Special K is a cereal, and a good one at that. There is also a drug called "Ketomene" (or Ketamine?) which has been given the name "Special K" on the street. It's a tranquilizer for animals. Don't worry, the cereal you ate is perfectly fine and NOT a drug. :-)

Special K the cereal is different than Special K the drug.

The drug Special K refers to ketamine which is a dissociative anesthetic medication. It has some anxiolytic and amnestic properties which means it helps with the stress/anxiety component of a painful procedure as well as helps you not remember the trauma involved with a painful procedure.

It used to be used in surgeries as an anesthetic, but there are many other more useful anesthetic agents now used. However, ketamine is still used in certain cases, especially for simple procedures for children and also used widely in veterinary medicine (for example if your dog needs surgery, this is the medicine they use to help sedate it).

Like many different medications, ketamine does get abused as a street drug as well. People use it because it provides that dissociative effect, meaning it causes a person to feel separated from themself. However, excessive use of ketamine or any anesthetic drug with dissociative effect has the potential to cause psychosis. This is often seen in the case of PCP which was also used as an anesthetic in the 1950s but has since been deemed an illegal drug.

The reason you felt sick and had been vomiting is more likely because you have a virus infection or food poisoning. Whether or not it is related to your breakfast is the question.

Special K is not a drug. It is a normal cereal made from rice. It is made to have more protein and less calories than most other cereals. I've consumed giant family sized boxes in a day and had no ill effects. Special K and plain cheerios are my two favorite healthy cereals.
Most likely it was something else that made you sick.

Special K is a slang term used for the street drug, ketamine, which is a horse traquilizer.

Special K, the breafast cereal made by Kellogg's is in no way related to ketamine.

You are probably just sick.

No, there are no drugs in it, and it is not a drug. Special K is actually slang for a certain drug (I can't remember which one right now), which is probably why you heard that. But the CEREAL is not. I hope you feel better, by the way.

Special K a drug? The cereal that's sold millions? I doubt it. I've ate Special K for years and not once got sick from it.

No, it is not a drug.. The Special-K diet does not work for everyone, maybe you are one of those. My daughter went on the Special-K diet and lost 10 pounds in two weeks.
Stop eating it and try something else after your stomach settles down.
