My dog is a fox terrier and they usually have muscley legs but she's sitting really weird. She sometimes sits with her legs straight. And i dont know if it's muscles in her legs or if it's something bad. :"(
I have kind of noticed her doing this for a while and then it stops for a while and it comes back for a while. She doesnt walk with a limp.
Any answer is intireley helpful and appreciated !!!! Im worried about my lil' pup ! THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!!!!

Fox Terriers and many toy breeds are very limber. If she is doing what I think you mean which is sitting and instead of having her legs the normal way she stretches them out. Does she also lay down and stretch them all the way out behind her? if so don't worry she is just more limber than most puppies. My Chihuahua was the kind that was long-legged and more thin than the typical Chihuahua and she could stretch her legs straight. She was able to do this in order to look out our windows- stood straight up and put her front paws on the windowsill. She could also sit with her legs straight out, and lay with them straight out. She never had arthritis or any joint problems and lived to be 15 yrs old. I have a pup directly from her bloodline and he does it too. I have seen other breeds do it too but mostly the terriers, Chihuahuas, and Doberman Pinschers. Its usually the more lean or skinny breeds that do it.
However if you feel that she may have a problem consult a vet, if possible record the activity when she does it and show the vet. This way you can give the vet the info he/she needs and they can let you know if something is wrong.

Hope this helps you!

Well, this all depends on age, breed and if she just sits lazy. If she is over exercised she might have a strain. Or if she is from questionable lineage it might be hip dysplasia. If she is old it could be arthritis. Or some other bone disruption ie:slipped disc, pinched nerve. If you are really concerned and want to do something...Book her an appointment with a local veterinarian. You'll have your answer, which in turn will make you and your companion sure on what to do next. Good luck, I really hope she sits lazy like my retriever Zoe.

My dogs occasionally sit like this, mostly my female does. It's just a little quirk that some dogs have. Another example of quirks is licking. My other dog sits and constantly licks the air while looking around. The noise can be irritating but it's kinda funny to watch.
This sitting position shouldn't be nothing to worry about as long as she doesn't act like she's in pain. :)

Barring any physical thing that might be going on (a vet, or therapist who specializes in sports dogs will be of great help to you with this) - I wonder if you inadvertently rewarded a "weird sit" from time to time when you were training? Sometimes behaviors that were rewarded infrequently will come back before they go away. Do you think she might be sitting in this odd way because she was rewarded for it before? Just a thought.

I have a West Highland White Terrier, and sometimes she sits funny. Sometimes her legs get sore, but I know this sounds gross but she sometimes is constipated. :-P
Your dog may have a rash or something making it painful to sit a certain way. You should see a vet, or at least talk to a hotline or something.
Hope your dog feels better.

Some times even little dogies like to sit in a different position. If he doesn't stop this in a couple of years, maybe then a trip to the vet.

If your pup is older... it might be arthritis kicking in.
On the positive side... she may just like to sit that way sometimes.
If its a real concern... just feel around on her legs and hips and see if you get any kind of response. (pain)
Take her to a vet and they will do pretty much the same thing then ask you if you want xrays taken.

I love monkeys! According to me they are funny, cute, and enjoyable! For my next B-Day I would LOVE to have one, but they are too expensive to buy unused. :,( My first Webkinz was a monkey and I named her Leslie. I am now in a shelter that helps monkeys who are diseased and monkeys that have VERY bad sicknesses. When people cut down forests they are ruining their homes. That is like some one just destroying your home and you have no place to go. I LOVE all animals except for wasps and bees! I am way too much of a scardycat to be by those!lol! :) Love your aviator! That was an interesting question so here is a star! And a heart!♥

It's probally nothing, but it wouldnt hurt to take her to the vet just to make sure. My dog gets in weird positions too, its normal for her, guess it also depends on the breed!

It's probably a joint or muscle injury. I suggest that you take it to the vet asap... you never know what it could be. Better to be safe than sorry!! Hope it'll be alright.
