OxyContin is a prescription painkiller used for moderate to high pain relief associated with injuries, bursitis, dislocation, fractures, neuralgia, arthritis, lower back pain, and pain associated with cancer.

You should never take another persons prescription pills, because they're dosed for the person given the prescription. If you take the OxyContin pills it could have serious side affects on YOU that it might not have on your friend.

OxyContin is also a highly addictive pill, so I wouldn't suggest taking it unless you've been prescribed it or have an actual reason to be taking the drug.

According to the Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN) 2002 mortality data, oxycodone ranked among the 10 most common drugs in 17 cities, including Philadelphia (93 mentions), Boston (49 mentions), Las Vegas (42), Baltimore (33 mentions), and Seattle (29 mentions).12

As of November 1, 2001, medical examiner offices in 31 States reported 1,096 overdose deaths involving oxycodone, 117 of which were related to OxyContin.

I would advill, ice the pain, for 1 day. Then go to a doctor if you can, make sure nothing is really wrong then. If you have to take the pills I would google and make sure they are what you think they are, so you don't put something bad into yourself.

I don't know what they look like, it would depend on the manufacturer. I do know this. Oxycontin is an excellent pain medicine, if taken in therapeutic levels. If abused, then it has a high rate of addiction. So to be totally honest with you, if a doctor didn't prescribe this to you, then don't take it.......cause you really don't know what you have. Don't get started on a drug that has the potential for abuse, with a huge addiction rate.......it'll mess you up for life. I'm warning you about this now......so you can't say you weren't told about it. Seems like to me you need new friends. Best of luck to you.

Nope and if your "friend" gave you oxycontin, your friend could be in a world of headaches from law enforcement. Giving schedule 2 drugs out is a felony!

Don't ever take anything that you are not sure of, especially if it was not prescribed for you. If you know a medical personnel you could check with them but you are safer getting your own supply of meds for whatever is your problem.

Why on earth would your friend be giving you pills. Unless that friend is a doctor with a prescription pad, both of you have broken the law.

Not a good idea to take other people's prescribed drugs.

Get your own from the doctor or go without
