I know I can claim my foster children who have lived with us for more than 6 months, but what if I don't have their ss#...do I really need this or can I just go without?

Foster children placed in your home by an authorized agency are treated tax-wise just like natural-born children - it sounds like you already know this. But you would need their social security numbers to claim them - talk to the agency who placed them with you.

JUst get in touch with your social worker and she shoul have no problem getting the ss#'s for you. It is good to have them on hand anyways just in case you ever have a accident and have to take them to the emergency room or something.

I think you need SSNs....check with child services about getting them. Good luck.
