Terrier means terror! Hang in there though, they are stubborn to house break but once she get's it she'll do it..you just have to be patient!

Cairn Terriers can be a lovely family pet. As far as biting. She is treating the person she is biting like another puppy. Be strict, but fair..... pinch her scruff with your thumb and index finger.... give a little shake.... give a firm "no". If she decides to come back at you flip her on her back and hold her down (on something that will not hurt her) by her chest with your entire hand. Look her right in the eyes. When she "gives" (looks away) then let her up and act as if nothing has happened. One thing to remember is to avoid playing agressive games during these formative months. Games like tug-o-war and teasing will only help turn up her biting habits. On housetraining.... you need to avoid giving her run of the house. Take her out often, praise her. Pups need to potty right after waking up and during play. Use a crate to confine her when you are unable to keep an eye on her. Join a good puppy kindergarten group.

All puppies bite. It is part of being a puppy. Give her chew toys and tell her NO! when she hits skin.
Use a crate to house train her. I am attaching a link. That is the best way to housebreak any dog. I have 2 Westies. I got them at 2 years old and they had never been trained...at all! They were house trained within a week. I will never do it any other way again!!

all puppies bite and their baby teeth are really sharp they do not know that they are biting that hard. so l pinched my puppies tongue hard enough that it could feel it. l did this a few times and then it just stop biting . and all puppies seem to be hard to train and house broke. there are some people that might say a dog can be trained in a month, but it takes a little longer then that. it will seem like it will take forever. but you will see that it really is easy if you just stick with it. do not give in. good luck

Are you crate training your dog? If you are not you definitely should. Unless he is sick, unfortunately, it is your fault everytime he goes to the bathroom in the house. You have to pay attention, constantly, and if he is very young, you usually need to take them out when your home about every 1 hr-1 hr and 30 min. it does not do any good to "rub his face in it" if you are doing that. We didn't do that with our dog and he was fully potty trained within 5 months. It just confuses them more by rubbing his face in it. If he goes to the bathroom in the house, say "bad potty" then immediately take him outside. He will try to wait you out so you have to stay out there with him until he goes or at least for 10-15 min. If he does not go then he goes in his crate for 15 min. After 15 min in his crate then take him out again. Keep repeating this until he goes. If he goes, praise praise praise him!!! Then take him back inside. If you are still upset about the accident don't let him see that if he has gone to the bathroom outside. Don't let him see you clean up the mess either! My dog is almost 1 yr on Feb. 2 and we practiced a technique "No Bite". NEVER HIT, KICK, OR STRIKE YOUR DOG. Take your index finger and your thumb and at the same time you say "No bite" very sternly, squeeze his muzzle pretty hard. It does not hurt them unless you accidently get their tongue in between his teeth. Lay him on his back and you may have to break his spirit a little to get your point across. Lay him on his back, put your hand on his chest and don't let him get up on his own will. You decide when he is calm enough to let him up. Keep telling him its ok and look into his eyes. YOU ARE THE BOSS, HE IS A YOUR PET. I hope this helps! It worked for us. If you have any questions let me know
