My god son's mother can be quite a trip sometimes. There have been several occasions where she has asked me for financial assistance to help her with rent, cell phone bills and money to buy food to feed herself and my god son. I always give whenever she asks because I have been blessed with extra and don't have a problem with helping out a single mother in need.
There have been more then a few instances where she has been downright mean and nasty towards me. Just last night she was yelling and screaming at me on the phone because I called and asked her why she hadn't paid me back the money she claimed that she would be repaying on the 18th of January.
I don't mind helping someone out, but I don't like being disrespected either. I also don't like being taken advantage of. Like I said she has been very rude to me on more then one occasion and I feel that she is taking my kindness for weakness. Would I be unchristian like to not assist her anymore? Advice please?

Direct her to her church family for help, and If you have extra, give it to God. Pray about it. You helping her out is very Chrisian-like, but that is not going to get you (or her) to Heaven. If she makes a commitment to hand over her financial (and other) problems to God, He will handle it. Concentrate on your own salvation for a while and see where she goes with it. Give her scripture only.

She's worried about putting food on the table, and she's got a cell phone? It makes me wonder what other "necessities" she has rationalized for herself.
She's taking advantage of you.
You are enabling her to live beyond her means.
You will never aagain see the money she "borrows."

Be a REALLY good friend, and encourage her to live within a budget. Encourage her to get financial advice. You will both be better off if you walk her through the process of becoming a responsible adult, rather than just letting her dip into your wallet now and agin.

Give the man a fish, and he has dinner.
Teach a man to fish, and he has dinner for a lifetime.

While I understand your desire to help her, she can apply for food stamps if she's really having trouble feeding herself and her son. As for her cell phone bill, you are under no obligation to give her money to pay that. Perhaps if she has it turned off she will learn not to run the bill up.

Time for tough love, here. She sounds like she's been indulged all her life, and while you think you're helping her, you're just delaying the lesson of personal responsibility that she has to learn. Continuing to help her is certainly not Christian, because she isn't learning to fend for herself. "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime." It's time she learned how to fish.

Good luck!

Jesus said to turn the check but he didn't say to keep on turning the check,I only read one time. There are lots of people that take advantage of others especially if they confess to love the Lord, because they think you have to go on and on.
What you need to do is pray about it and let the Lord show you how to handle it.When you know you have the Lord backing you up you know you are standing on the rock and you shall prevail.
Also if you keep letting her manipulate you then you are an enabler, enabling her to keep this up.

My advice in similar cases to the above; Assume anything you give to help someone, you will not get back from that person (excluding God).

You would be unchristian like to continue to help her because you are condoning her sin by putting up with it. Your Godson will survive and be fine but, she needs a lesson.

You should not pay her cell phone bills. Cell phones are instrument of the devil. They are not mentioned in the Bible so beware.
If you think you are doing unchristian things here is the drill :
Do these things, repent, confess, get saved, do them again...

enjoy !

One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the LORD,And He will repay him for his good deed. Proverbs 19:17

As long as you are not enabling her to sin by your help, you are doing good. We are not called to only give to those who treat us kindly. But to give to those who are our enemies as well. Do not grow weary in doing good, your Father sees your deeds and your heart.
