Find someones old version and use it.
Everybody has an outdated copy.
Otherwise, craigslist has a section where you can find software other people don't need anymore, and it's usually dirt cheap.
Like twenty bucks for the whole cd plus serial #.

If you want a "genuine" copy, you must buy the whole Microsoft Office suite at a store and install it on your computer. This costs about $300.
Otherwise, you may download it from torrent sites such as theporatebay.org for free. These versions may have bugs and may not function well.
If you don't like either option above, I would recommend using OpenOffice.org . It makes available for download programs that are very similar to the Office Suite programs and have all the same functions. These programs are great (and 100% legal and free). If you want, you can choose only to download the equivalent of MS Word.

It's a huge program and IF you even managed to find it to download, MS would know it's illegal and it would give you a ton of problems. If you go to e-bay, you could probably pick up MS Office 2000 - even Office 2003 (both are very good) very cheap - since 2006 is kind of out. There's nothing like owning a valid copy of software - it's amazing how there's a lot less problems.

If you need a legit copy of MS Word your best bet is to buy it. If you just need to view a file that is in MS Word, Microsoft.com used to offer a program that was free call Word Viewer that you can download.

you can't unless you want to do it illegally. use a software like limewire that you would normally use to download music and just search for it. or just bite the bullet and buy the software. or if you have a friend who has it, just copy it from them. good luck!
