Piano has to be the best. You can do tons of different things with it, such as have each finger playing a seperate melody (like I could actually do that, but you get the idea). You may say, why not another keyboard instrument? Well, the piano is not only the one with the most extensive library of literature, but it's also the (physically) strongest keyboard instrument. Watch someone play a Rachmaninoff or Prokofiev concerto... it would destroy an organ. That wasn't the case untill the Bosendorfer company started making pianos in the 1800s. Franz Lizst (another composer of keyboard-smashing music) commended them as the best for being the only brand name who's piano he couldn't destroy in concert. That, of course, was before Steinway, which is the ONLY way.
Well, not only is piano the best, but it's also better. Check out some music for piano by a guy named Sorabji; it's modern, yet has a classical feel to it. He has to have some of the weirdest rhythms and ideas ever. Also fun to hear or play are the works of Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saens, Samuel Barber and George Gershwin (check out their piano concertos).
So, basically, piano is the best because it's the only significant insturment that you can actually play more than one or two notes at a time on. Did I mention that, even though it weighs a lot, you'll never get tired of holding it like you would a tuba? Also, if you have the proper hand position, it gives you a great tricep workout.

I play a bit of piano, as it is a requirement of all music majors. I'd like to learn to play guitar, since I've owned one since my 8th birthday and have never learned to play it.

My favorite instrument, though, is bassoon. It's such a gorgeous instrument, and I love the sound of it.

Hey,

I suppose you could call me a band geek since that is what I spent most of my time doing in high school. I first started on the piano, then moved to the clarinet, then moved to the oboe and then took up the trombone while I was playing the oboe. Now I play a wind synthesizer called the Akai EWI 4000s. I really enjoy music and it is a really great medium for self-expresion.

I play the flute, clarinet, oboe, saxophone, and piano. I'm learning the guitar and the violin. I think that my favorite stringed instrument would be the guitar...acoustic...my favorite woodwind instrument is the clarinet. I just love the way it sounds.

I play classical guitar. I think clarinet is pretty sweet, especially in like old-time swing and jazz and stuff. I also like classical piano a lot and cellos are pretty amazing. I like them much better than violins because violins are just too high pitched and squeaky and overrated and cellos are dark and low sounding.

I play the clarinet. Not to brag, (but going to anyway just because I never brag) I've got the top spot in the clarinet section. ^_^

Although, you want to know a secret?

Even though, according to my section, we're supposed to despise the saxophone section, I'd rather be an Alto sax player any day.

Piano, flute, and violin in that order. Cello is next - I'm borrowing one next week before I buy one. I'm so excited! I love string instruments the best.
