I won in 7th grade by doing a test for which brand of battery lasted the longest, and I found which one was the best buy based on cost per minute of life (duracell beat energizer, cvs, and something else)
I just ran the battery in a gameboy that i kept with me at all times. When it died, I recorded the time. Made a lot of graphs

I won in 9th grade by testing to see people reactions to music when doing a puzzle. I got 3 puzzles of equal diffuculty and spray painted them all similar patterns. I tested 20 people on their times while listening to their favorite, least favorite, and no music (Least favorite music was the overall most successful).

If you use one, or are inspired by one, please let me know.

When I was in the 8th grade my partner and I made a maze for my brothers gerbil... we tested the gerbils time to finish the maze in the light and in the dark.... with and without food (in the light and the dark) and with a trail of water in the light and dark.... naturally we discovered that the gerbil did all the tests better in the darrk, becaue it was a nocturnal animal, but we got 2nd place at our science fair... It was fun and easy to do. Other simple science fair tests is to test the asorbancy of different brand paper towels...or toilet paper..ect..... poor the exact same amount of water onto a table or soemthing...and use a different towel each time to see if it picks up all the water and how durable the towel is afterward... Simple easy and scientific... Good luck to you!
