i have some videos in wmv format and wanted to know is there any free safe software to use that can convert them to a dvd and play on your dvd player

try downloading nero. that would help you convert WMV to DVD format.

On http://myfilmo.com/software.php there are some software converts and burn your downloaded internet videos between avi, asf, wmv, mpeg, Divx and Real format. It's not free but it have free trial I think.
