The babysitter is 14. She is red-cross/ CPR certified. How much should I pay her to watch 2 kids (3 and 5) per hour. Probably from 6:30 PM - 1:30 AM. Do they get paid more for being up late?

Not for being late to babysit but for being up late at night.

6-10 dollars is more than enough, but yes you should take into consideration that she is up late at night. For those 7 hours, you should pay her 50 dollars.

I am a childcare provider with training and I am paid 5 dollars per hour per child. Now, I give a 20 percent discount to those with more than one child, so I charge 8 dollars an hour for two children. I do the care out of my home and provide meals if they are here during meal times. That's a hard to question to answer, because rates vary so much from region to region. How mature is this 14 year old? What is your income? If she has some training, then she may already have an amount in mind. You could ask her what she is expecting to get paid and then decide if it is reasonable or not. I do not charge extra for late night just because, the kids are going to go to sleep. What are you paying extra for? The teenager to watch TV or sleep on the couch? I have full training and am inspected once a month, just to give you a starting place. You may want to pay her less, because of age and lack of training compared to a certified adult, or you may want to pay her more, because she's young and saving up for a big trip or something. It's really your call. Best of Luck!

It is because of the short term commitment. You'll find the same thing is true of those short-term babysitting places at some strip malls. They charge a lot, but only use them a few hours vs. all day every day. Keep in mind that the government looks at it differently as well. Daycare (caring for child so that parent can go to work or attend school) is taxed, while babysitting is not. My suggestion is to find out what the going rate is for the age group you plan to care for. Eventually, poster Leann will be found out when a parent attempts to get the child care credit. A tax audit is not a pleasant thing.

I would say between 7 and 10 dollars an hour depending on how much work she would have to do. If she is allowed to nap once kids go to bed, I wouldn't worry about paying her extra.

i would pay $7 dollars for the hours between 6:30 and 10:30 and $8.5 for any hour after 10:30.
so for your specified hours the total would be: around $54 because she's there so late.

I run a home daycare and charge 2.50 per hour per child. I don't charge more for later times.

If it were an infant and they were getting up in the night then yes you'd get paid more but these kids should be in bed by then.

35.00

i'm a babysitter. It should depend on what the babysitter will be doing. If they have to make dinner for the kids, give them a bath and put them to sleep, pay them more. From the sounds of the amount of time the babysitter would be over at your place, they'd have to tidy up the kids and put them to sleep, staying up themselves. $40.00 would be appropriate.

+ Set Time= Set Fee
I would pay $80 ($40 per child) for the night and give bonuses if she cleaned up or played more with the children.

Also always leave emergency cash for just in-case.
and if there was no emergency we would give our baby-sitter an extra $15

If you pay more then they will take better care of your children and will want to do it again and again!
Price should not matter when it comes to the care of your children!

thats too many hours for a 14 year old period. hire an adult for those late hours ,. teens need sleep. when i was 14 i only could keep kids til 11pm my moms rule and after 9pm i was paid double. back then it was 2 bucks and hour. so i would say 2 per hour per kid and after 9pm go to 4 per hour or offer a flat rate of 50 bucks

those hours are late for a 14 year old, when she's still got to get up early to go to school too.

unless it's Fri and Sat. only.
