If a person allows the alcohol to control them rather then the reverse then it is certainly harmful. Personally I cannot safely take a drink as one is too many and a million is not enough. But my partner is very able to have one or two drinks and still be in total control of her life. Underage drinking is usually a right to passage for majority of youth and a part of growing up. Hard drinking occasionally can be bad but again it depends on how often and how the person reacts while drunk. There are many problems associated with drinking and they are pretty well known, so it certainly does not ease problems and only makes things worse usually. As I have stated I have nothing against people drinking and do not judge them, that is not my spot to do. But if I feel that a friend may be using alcohol to access then I would inform them that perhaps they should look their lives and how alcohol may be affecting it.

In my opinion, anything you do too much of is not healthy...and if you take anything for a reason like forgetting something you did...or if someone passed away and the pain was so great you wanted to stop the ache.....it could turn into a bad habit....it's hard for some people to control drinking any kind of alcohol.
If someone has a real taste for it and can't refuse it. They are the ones who are going to be at risk for being an alcoholic. When it changes your daily routine and you don't go to work, stay up all hours, rude to your family and friends, throw tantrums, pass out and forget what you have been doing. I believe that shows drinking is a BIG PROBLEM
....most young people want to try it because they really want to show they are grown and free to do anything and everything..
for some reason ..drinking and smoking seems to be "a sign" that you are grown up. As you age you realize it's really a health hazard. That most of the time if you must have it it's not the best thing for you.
When someone can take a drink with dinner or for a treat a dessert or at the end of the day and it does not become a bad habit then I see no harm in it. It's mainly when you drink and cannot be responsible for your actions that it should be stopped if possible. People should seek help if they are out of control with any substance. Too many families have come apart at the seams because of it plus the traffic accidents that have caused death and injury from drunk drivers.
Great question!

Alright...your question lacks some clarity but I think I understand .First, underage drinking is wrong if you are 10 years old. An intellegent person and by that I mean responsible, that can handle a cold beer at 17, I don't necessarily see as wrong. The law say's differently and so you are safer by following the legal standards. A 17 year old, found in posession of alcohol or especially arrested for consuming alcohol has started their adult life off with a lot of unnecessary trouble. It's just not something you must have right away and trust me, you will have plenty of time to get trashed later. For now, take care of your business. That business is to learn correctly, grow healthily, mature wisely, improve your integrity and character, learn to respect everything around you and cherish the ones you love and above all...do what is right.
As far as alcohol consumption in general...If alcohol creates any chaos in a persons otherwise normal life then it's a problem. If a person drinks to feel better from drinking the night before (hangover cure) or if they need to drink in order to feel better about themselves, then their health will suffer. If these factors are present then you can bet your last dollar that the people around you will suffer. If these factors are present, you can forget the bet...this is a fact...the persons life will become extremely difficult ! To continue is a guarantee that the situation will get worse. Anyone that drinks , should always do it in moderation. I mean, whats the point ? There is no room at the top for bragging rights on this subject. " I got really drunk, spent all of my money, cheated on my girl, got sick and went to jail...or at least thats what they tell me, because I don't remember anything." Does that about sum it up for you ?

A moderate glass of wine was prescribed in the bible for Timothy, a young preacher for some stomach problems.
The medical industry also advocates a small glass a day is beneficial.
Now a problem can arise from even that small amount as some people seem to have a "gene" or something in them that just one alcoholic drink can trigger an addiction so for myself, I don't go there. Been 81 years without it and still around but it is a personal choice and I am not about to tell anyone not to. Just be moderate.

I'm not sure what you mean by "wrong"...In my opinion, its not wrong. As it has been stated many times here, moderation is the key. Anything in excess is potentially detrimental to your health, especially drugs (yes, alcohol is a drug). A glass of wine a day or a beer a day is understandable. And I don't see anything wrong with getting drunk at a New Year's Eve party (but NOT DRIVING) as long as you are not to the point of passing out or blacking out. Underage drinking may lead to problems. I knew kids in high school who were practically alcoholics...they got drunk every weekend. This is not healthly, and parents need to watch for that. I'll admit, I'm still young..yes I drank a couple of times in high school and yes I drank in college. But I was always smart about it, and never let it get out of control or take control of me. Will power and common sense when it comes to alcohol will allow you to steer clear of problems with it.

Alcohol is wrong and detrimental if you use it as an excuse to drive like an idiot or act like a jerk. But if you just drink some to loosen up and relax, and do it in a controlled situation where you don't have to drive or go to work while under the influence, then no harm no foul in my opinion.

Anything in "moderation" is usually not bad for you. Red wine has proven health benefits. Most people can not drink just a little just like eating ice cream.
Moralist will give me lots of hands down on this answer.

Drinking a glass of wine a day has been proven to actually be beneficial (Hey - the French do it!)
Anything - ANYTHING - done in excess can be detriminal to your health. And I'm the last person to condone underage drinking.

i think of a greater powerful process action could be to take him to counseling. If he insists on eating at such an early age(and you will no longer discourage this habit) then he will construct an risky relationship with alcohol which will possibly expand as he a while. Lock up the liquor cupboard and lay down the line. that's unlike you're able of authority or something...so which you're able to desire to no longer probably administration your baby...

Do you think that drinking alcohol is wrong and detriminal to your health as well as those around you?
No.
I drink alone. With nobody else.
You know, when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself.
