I have been told by a number of people that i have the mind of a 14 year old. Is that bad? i tend to watch childrens cartoons, and little kiddies programmes, instead of going out with my friends and going out to parties. As an 17 (going on 18), is it bad to have only ever been to one party in my 17 years of living, to have never been out with my friends, to always go the the libary when i go out, or is it to good to be a hermit, and stay at home most of the time and do my coursework?

Heya,
i turned 18 in december 2006

and nah its not bad to watch kiddies programmes or act 'childish' me and my best friends do that all the time(act childish) ...its quite funny. i think you are starting to worry if its bad because of what other people have said ? in that case ignore other people and be your self!!
the party issue ..being a teen doesnt mean you have to go to parties i have been to a few but that is only because i wanted to. compared to other people id be considered a hermit. Just as long as you willing choose not to go to the parties then whats the worry? But if your parents are confining you and you want to go to these parties then thats when its a problem.

However some parties which ive been invited to i have decided not to go because i just don't want too ...generally its some of my friends getting drunk etc etc and im not really into that ;)

btw your not a hermit (hehe) hermits wouldnt even leave the house to go to the library! .. Dont worry if you find yourself bogged down with loads of work its natural ..(im at that stage now where i have loads of exams etc as its my final year of high school) and i spend a lot of time revising/ doing coursework...but just remember this will all benefit your future ...when you look back you'll be glad you put your best efforts into your work because it gained you a good job etc and you didnt flunk all your exams...

so dont worry ! the main thing is to make sure you are happy with yourself and dont worry what other people do or think =)

Well, I hope you go out some, but I'd say you should do what you want. Be yourself. Not everybody has to party all the time. In fact, you'll be less likely to find yourself in sticky situations, or worse, dangerous situations, than your partying friends. It sounds like you have the personality of someone who'd rather have a few close friends then a whole lot of party buddies, there is nothing wrong with that at all. Be yourself, do good in school, and you'll find your niche in this world. And you'll find close friends who you have things in common with. By the way, I'm 36 and I still like to watch cartoons sometimes!

It's ok and cool to keep being modest, simple and witty girl... age factor doesnt mean you need to go wild and forget the good things that you have learned during your childhood...

The stupid things would never be rectified by age... wrong things will still and remain wrong wether you turn 18 or 30's

Always stand out for the right thing... and say NO to all kinds of EVIL

If you prefer to stay in and do your coursework and watch cartoons fine. At least you should get the best grades possible.

Its vital you develop social skills and get realtioships with girls or you will NEVER be able to handle grown up life or work as all relationship based.

Likewise if you can't pull you cant sell or persuade...

And you will end up very heurt and lonley as you will never be able to get a girlfriends as girls only accept rookies who dont know what they are doing under 18.

After that you just get rejected and end up only being able to do it with prostitutes and all lonley and suicdal.

Parties are the only place you can learn social relatiohsip sand grow up... Without them you end up like Michael Jackson a grown man only being able to deal with kids.

The coursework will end up usually without people skills... Nobody will respect or listen to you.

14 year olds go out with mates and date.

This is serous and based on others and self...

All the guys you see in thailand with hookers... they were like you and didn't sort it out... thats the result

If your happy living your life how you do then go for it. Do what makes you happy, no one else. If you feel that your friends dont share the same interests with you then why not get a study buddy or a pen pal? GOOD LUCK for the future.

I think that it is great that you aren't in the partying scene. I don't think that it is a bad thing. Just that when you have to go out in the world just act your age, but never forget how to have fun in your own way. That is what makes you you!!!

I'm 63 and I was just like you. I had a younger brother and I blamed him for making me act young myself. You will soon grow out of it. You need an interest that will bring you in contact with others, preferably older people. Good luck.
