There is nothing but evidence for evolution. Why do doctors have to invent a new flu vaccine every year? Because the old virus mutated. That's evolution right in your face folks! It occurs fast in the realm of the very small. But much, much slower in big creatures like us. Why don't you get it? Is it because you are blinded by faith perhaps?

I agree with you, so many christians are blinded by their faith that they shut out the world around them. I just have no reason to believe that we were magically plopped here on earth from a man's rib bone. and how did man get there, yeah, musta been magic too huh? There's so much "faith" its becoming superfluous!

That's the difference. We believe in micro-evolution, where a species adopts some new quirk. As you mentioned, flu strains mutate and change every year. But, they are STILL flu strains. Their essential nature hasn't changed. A Siberian Husky is better suited to the climate extremes of Alaska, while a German Shepherd might not be, but both are still dogs.

If macro-evolution were true, and the process was ongoing, we should be seeing evidence of one species becoming something new all the time. But a caterpillar is still a caterpillar, even when it changes to adjust to a new climate.

People are still people, even though we have different complexions or other nuances.

I'm blinded by the light. I've been seeing it for so long that I don't even care about anything else. It's all I really need, and I know that anything that happens will work itself out fine. In fact all of my memories can be derrived from this light, so in a sense anything that I experienced could be reduced to this principle. It's kind of sad in a way, but I still know the happiness that I had through different parts of my life, and I don't need to be seeing them in my mind now. In fact, if I did, that would be attaching onto the past, and so even without philosophy I would still advise myself not to be attached to the past. As for the future, I know it'll just keep getting better, or more specifically, it'll be the same as it always was, except I will be growing and learning more, so yes, it will get better. Even though I stay the same, and life stays the same, meaning it will always be changing, good and bad, happy and sad, anger and love, etc, it is still what it is, and although I will learn new things, the knowledge itself will still be the same, but I will always have an oppurtunity to act, and action is complete freedom baby. When I act, I can be God or the devil, I can think clearly or confusedly, I can think logically or illogically, I can make sense or not make sense, because action is free of all thoughts of the mind. If I am doing something then I don't have to give a **** what my mind, self, or even God wants me to do. I am a completely ******* free man here and now baby, here and ******* now. Peace, I'm outta this **** hole you call spirituality.

Isn't the variation of the flu virus a mutation (not evolution)?

Check back with me when the flu virus becomes a butterfly.

The virus is still a virus. There is no evolution. Man did not "evolve" from an amoeba.

First, there are plenty of strains of Christianity which allow for evolution to exist. I myself fall under one of these theological umbrellas.
However, more to the point, although there is a good deal of evidence for evolution, there are also an immense number of flaws with the process as well. Scientists are consistently finding problems with various aspects of it. For instance, check out things such as Irreducibly Complex Systems, issues regarding the Law of Small Probability, population explosions which are impossibly rapid, erroneous past experiments which are never corrected (such as the Atmospheric Nucleic Acid Production), etc. None of these really prove Creationism, but they cause serious problems for evolution.
In all honesty, it was by studying things such as evolution, theoretical physics, and other natural sciences that drove me into my faith. I can rattle off all the evidence I want, however, and it won't bring anyone else into the fold. I have yet to meet someone who oposes religion purely because of a lack of evidence. There are always ways around evidence. It took me a long time to realize why I was fighting, but eventually, thankfully, I lost. God Bless!

I'm training to be a priest in Oxford University along side of over 100 others and I can count on one hand those who still believe in 6 day creation.

Belief in evolution doesn't conflict in Christianity. If anything they point to the other. Evolution is more probable if there's an external force involved and the first 2 chapters of the Bible are in the style of Hebrew Poetry so suggest that the Bible doesn't give a scientific understanding of HOW God made stuff - it just is glad that he did.

Hope that helps
Good luck with your other questions - it's worth working through them

Hello.. :)

dictionary.com

Mutate:

1. to change; alter.

==============================================

This does not prove evolution..

Does not a person change their mind..do they not alter their thinking..this does not mean that they are evolving..

As for flu vaccines having to be changed every year..it has to do with the virus becoming immune to the vaccine..it has nothing to with the virus evolving..it changes..but so does a potato change when it is boiled..it becomes soft, it does not evolve into something different..it still is the same potato.. :)

A flower starts at a seed and takes root, to become different than when it first started..

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

Evolution relies on positive mutation in humans and animals. Developing superior beings and all. There's never been an instance of helpful mutation anywhere. Eight fingers, enlarged organs, and conjoined twins. Those are evidence of positive mutations in evolution? Whoa! In my face!!

You know that just because evolution occurs, this doesn't disprove the notion of a God.

BUT!!! with each mutation-genetic information is lost, not gained. That is not evolution, it is the opposite!

Give it some thought!
