What do you know about OCD?
I think I have OCD and I hate it...how can I get rid of it...or at least help myself get over some of the stuff I worry about. I worry a lot about germs and touching stuff...I'm always washing my hands and I can't stand it. I just want to be able to get over it. It hinders me in a lot of ways. Just please...PLEASE...help me. I want to do this without having to go to a psychiatrist or anything like that...

OCD is often rooted in fear - the fear that something bad will happen if the ritual or routine is not completed. Since yours is related to germs, I'm guessing that this is the case with you. If you are dead set against going to counseling, start by doing some research on germs and handwashing and find out what is necessary to keep from getting sick. Then allow yourself to wash your hands often enough and long enough to prevent illness - and that's it!
Confront your fears and try to think rationally about them. If this does not work, I would strongly suggest counseling even if you do not want to go. OCD is a disorder that can become progressively worse as negative thought patterns take over, so the sooner you seek help, the better.

Btw, I'm a counselor and I have seen people experience dramatic improvement with OCd in a matter of months if they really work at it.
