I would take this to my GP but he is worse than useless. My son was over 9lb when he was born and has ALWAYS (from birth) had pronounced muscular structure. He has alot of body hair for his age too. I am concerned he has some kind of growth deformity. He is amazingly strong for his age and when i was 15 weeks pregnant I was sent for scans as two 'soft markers' were found indicating possible downs syndrome. I was on sodium valporate at conception and wondered if this can cause any damage apart from the risks I was told of. He was cleared for downs and autism but has a slightly enlarged right kidney. Lately he has been complaining of 'sore legs' and struggles to walk for the first few minutes after waking. On the walk to school he finds it painful too. I am aware of certain risks concerning this medication for my fits but are there any long term growth affects? He is not unusally short but is very muscular for his age. It is almost as if puberty is hitting. Can this be the case?

I know you asked for advice other than go to the doctor. So, I will tell you this. I would find a pediatric specialist in your area, explain the situation to him (about your son and his doctor) and if that doesn't work for you, e-mail me and let me know the other details of the case.

I know you don't want to hear to take him to the Dr. but that's really what you need to do. If your Dr. is so bad then you need to find another one. Find one who specializes in childhood disorders. My friend's son started puberty way to young. They were told that it could cause a lot of problems like weak bones and stunted growth. You can't just sit on this if you want what's best for your son. Go to Dr.'s until you find one that's right for you. And research, research, research. Use the Internet to it's full advantage, type into a search engine every symptom you've noticed about your son, and the medications you were on at conception. Please don't wait until it's too late to help him. Good Luck.

I'm afraid I can't help you with your sons problem - you really need to take him to a professional.

Now obviously you have a serious problem with your current GP so may I suggest that the first thing you do tomorrow is transfer to another surgery. Hopefully there will be one close by but if it takes a bit of travel maybe it would be worth it to be able to see a docor you can have faith in.

Find a different doctor or take him to the emergency room for the pain in his legs

sounds definitly like an inherited chromosmal disorder like maybe XYY or XYYY you can try searching these on google, and possibly your doctor can put him on some kind of hormones because their is some kind of imbalance
