I don't know if 'rock' is the word I'd use. I think they're absolutely adorable, but the way they live is sad. I think seagulls are as beautiful as any other bird, but I don't like seeing that they have to eat garbage and there are just so many of them that people learn to hate them for doing what birds do.
I'm not sure if this is universally known, but ALL birds poop. No one complains when a robin poops on your car, but a seagull is a huge deal simply because we see seagulls so often and they're just everywhere.

Ever read "Jonathon Livingston Seagull"?? It came out in the 70s, very popular. The seagulls in that book definitely rocked.

Anyone who has lived most of their life on the coast will tell you that seagulls are flying rats who subsist mostly on garbage, the bycatch from fishing boats, and handouts from tourists.
That said, they are pretty efficient garbage collectors on our beaches, and, unlike rats, do not harbor diseases that can be passed on to humans (yet - see avian flu, which is killing people in Asia and the third world).
Also, they don't taste good.

I like Seagulls. People get annoyed at them at the shore, but I like having them around.

I've never actually seen a baby seagull... I think that they are born full sized out of garbage heaps.
