I have developed a lump under the skin in the knee area. It's about the size of a dime or M&M candy. It it somewhat hard, but if i touch it, it can move, so its not attacked to the bone or anything. It hurts when i touch it too. I also notice that after being on my feet all day at work, the lump is bigger by the end of the day, but then goes back to the dime size by the morning.

I havent hurt my knee by falling or anything, so i dont know where this lump came from or what it could be. I made an appointment with my doctor for next week. ANy idedas on what it could be?

It might be a Baker's Cyst. Check the net for symptoms to see if it is such.

I had a lump on my leg that started small but after years grew bigger (like the size of a golf ball). I went to the doctor and found out it was a lipoma which is just a build up of fat. It is pretty common and can be easily removed.

It really does sound like a splint. My 4 year old escaped from his field one day and when I found him he had a nice bony lump on his leg. I had the vet out immediatley he was not lame, or sore at all. I am also interested in becoming a vet and my vet knows that. He told me that splints are usually on the split bones but older horses sometimes get them lower down or behind the splint bones. If you are really worried about it, or he becomes lame, then call your vet but I really do think this is a bone splint. It could be a bone spur if it is around a joint but he would likely be lame. Good luck:)

My father-in-law had an experience very similar to yours. He had a ganglion cyst. It was so weird to feel, it seemed to roll around under his skin. Totally benign and of no worry --- just annoying and, at times, painful. He had it surgically removed and has not been bothered since.

However, if it appeared suddenly and out-of-nowhere, it could be something more serious. Good idea to see a doctor right away.

Best of luck to you!!

you have fluid containing sacks in the joints that can and do inflame. use ice to reduce swelling and stay off feet several times a day, elevating them will also help.
could have developed a cyst, too which will swell, treat the same until your appointment.
