I just dealt with this recently:

I just finally ended a 2 year off and on relationship. In all honesty, I screwed up by cheating on her once...3 weeks after we met. I "manned up" and took responsibility for it and told her that I would totally understand if she never wanted anything to do with me. She told me that she loved me and wanted to continue.

The following 2 years were absolute hell. Short story, she never regained her trust for me, even though I was the "perfect boyfriend" after the "mistake." We would fight over the dumbest of things and then a few weeks later get back together just to fight over something again...this went on for 2 years. It was like an emotional minefield. I never knew when something I said or did was going to set one off and then BOOM!!! There we go again. Finally, we fought over a DVD that I borrowed from a female co-worker. Since I didn't identify her by name, she immediately became suspicious and accused me of trying to hide something about my co-worker from her. That was it....we were done after that.

Don't waste time going backwards...move on.

I would say it depends on why you broke up ( was it a mutual decision) in the first place, and how much time as passed. Say if you broke up because one of you was leaving the area or going to school and didn't want to tie the other person up you might try it again. But if it was a bad relationship the first time (like cheating, abusive, difference in beliefs etc...) I would say don't go back into it. I think for the most part people are in our past for a reason. What does common sense and your heart tell you? Be honest with yourself. Good luck!!!!

Try not to date x's anymore they don't change and you encounter the same thing that broke you up the first time. Trust me made the mistake too many times myself. Its just easier to go back to an x than to deal with a new one sometimes. Be single and enjoy it! You don't always have to be seeing someone.

UMMM, No I would not date an ex again, I learned my lesson my first time, he cheated on me and that's why we broke up. When we go back together, he cheated on me again. That's why I would not date an ex anymore.
