I get the same reaction after eating either one. My throat swells some. The only common link between the two is potassium. If anyone has the same problem, please email me so we can comapre notes! What's weird is, I can eat chocolate covered raisins and get no reaction. But if I eat a small box of plain raisins, I get a reaction.

Could be something they're sprayed with, or a chemical? Food allergies are most often proteins. If your throat seems to swell, it's a sign the allergy is severe, because it can swell enough to cut off your air - that's what happens in shock. I have allergies to squash and mushrooms, tho, and they're not protein... no help -

there may also be a connection with the level of pectin in each fruit, pectin levels differ from year to year and crop to crop and apples and grapes/raisins have high levels of pectin. I can't eat any type of dried fruit because of the concentrated level of pectin in them, I have an allergic reaction as well.

There is also the chance that you may be allergic to the preservatives used in each type of fruit, my sister-in-law is allergic to preservatives and she can't eat watermelon, apples, or grapes because store bought fruit is injected with metabisulfite preservative, unless it's organic.
