but they also said no mater what type of milk you give your cat just give a little or it could get the runs.

It should be fine. The usual issue with cow milk is the lactose--many cats are lactose-intolerant. Lactose-free milk is an option for kitties, but it's still milk and it still might upset their wee tummies.

Soy or rice milk should be OK. I've given my cat soymilk and she liked it pretty well. But watch out for digestive issues. Also, don't give them too much sugar (don't get the super-sweet kind in the purple carton...Very Vanilla? Too much sugar!)

Yes, it is. It can cause hormonal imbalances from the phyto-estrogens in soy. This can cause an elevation in the T-4 thyroid secretions in cats. Soy also contains trypsin inhibitors which interfere with protein digestion and phytic acid which inhibits mineral absorption.

Cats did not evolve to consume vegetable protein, only meat protein.

Neither in milk or in their food is a good idea. Purina Natural is putting soy in their cat food so don't feed that either.

Cats don't need milk on a regular basis. Given that, if you only allow your cat a small amount each day or once a week as a treat, it should be fine. If the cat likes it.

One of mine likes pancake syrup, though I've been told cats don't have "sweet" receptors like people do. He sure has me fooled!

Cats do need taurine, which is found in canned food or meat-type foods.
