Dear Ned, I use a product called Simply Saline. It is in a small round can and has a nozzle that works well to use in your nostrils. Tip your head way back and press into each nostril. Since this product has saline and only saline in it, it will break up the phlegm in your throat as well as your sinuses. It is recommended by Otolaryngologists (ENT doctors) because of the healing properties of normal saline. I had this problem and now I use Simply Saline on a daily basis. I know exactly how you feel. You can also gargle with warm salt water and this will help as well.

If you feel like you have congestion in your chest, a product called Mucinex is also available and will break up all the mucus. Truthfully. This can be purchased without seeing a doctor and works great.

Best wishes for your health.

If you are a smoker or are around people who smoke, you will never get it out. If you don't smoke, the first thing you should do is drink a lot more fluids. Gargling a couple of times a day with any standard mouthwash might help. If you still have problems, I would suggest that you see a doctor (obviously last resort).

If you can't get out in the woods alone, then put a soft pillow over your face and yell like crazy for a couple of minutes. You might become a little hoarse later but you'll get a lot of that stuff out of your throat.

There are medications out there that will help you. Mucinex is one . Sit in the bathroom and turn the shower on hot and let it run for like 10- 15 minutes and the steam from it will help loosen up the plegm. If it gets worse try going to the doctor.

Drink lots of fluids to thin it out and gargle with warm salt water and spit it out. If it keeps coming back, then you should try some Mucinex-D. It will help dry up the post nasal drip (which is causing the phlegm) and get the crap up and out.

Drink lots of water to loosen the phlegm.
When it comes out, check the color. If it's
yellow or green, see your doctor. You could
have an infection.

Z-Pac (antibiotic) from my doctor always works for me. You can also try over the counter Mucinex.

Just cough and spit...

You can put it easier for your throat if you use any humidifier...

Consider also a syrup (ask in your nearest pharmacy or chemists).
