I've seen many answers on here that say what is the true path to follow. I've also seen just how different religious groups there are that have all stemmed from Christianity. Along the way these other religions have decided that their way is the better way and the path to redemption after death. Nobody really sings from the same hymn sheet. I'm not being argumentative or trying to rub people up the wrong way. Surely, if the end product is the afterlife with God then what does it matter what religion or how a religion is followed?

The goal posts change all the time. Can anyone really say that they are following the exact rules at all times that gives you the path to heaven?

A lot of people answer on here and they preach religious text or make religious comments but do you really know what you should be doing to ensure your place in heaven beside God or Jesus or Mary to make a point. Also, why do they scorn people that follow Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism or any other religion that does not center on God, Jesus or Mary. Surely that is not godly? Then again I’ve seen spiteful scorn against Jehovah witnesses, Catholics, Methodists etc.

Can you see why it’s so confusing?

I know I have opened myself up for a few hostile comments and I’m not just talking about my grammar. The proof is in the pudding as they say.

I'm willing to bet that none of them are correct.

With thousands of religions out there, how could you tell? The website for religious tolerance lists 10,000 religions in the world. If you assume equal odds, then you have a 0.01% chance of choosing the correct religion.

No religion has a hold of the majority of the people. And those that convert do so at the insistence of other men. There are no documented cases of someone converting out of the blue. Everyone who has converted has learned of the religion from someone else (though it may have incubated for years or decades before conversion).

It is my contention that if God (whoever he is) wants to be known, it would be done. There would be no denominations. There would be no holy war. All the Muslims, Hindus, Christians, atheists, etc., would all know who God is and would worship him.

But, that hasn't happened. Why not? There are two basic reasons:

1. God doesn't care about being worshiped. If God doesn't care, then we don't need to make up foolish rules to appease him. He's obviously content with what we are doing. So, these rules that religious people try to enforce on others are actually against the spirit of God (unless he is a god of spite and strife).
2. God doesn't exist. Naturally, if God doesn't exist, then he won't reveal himself. Pretty simple explanation.

So, if God doesn't care or doesn't exist, then why are we worrying about holy wars? We shouldn't. We should focus on bettering ourselves.

I can sum up the above with a quote from Buffalo Springfield: Nobody's right if everybody's wrong.

I can see that it is confusing for those with a religious turn of mind. I mean, what is the difference between jesus and mohammed? Why not be jewish, or would it be better to be a latter day saint? There is not one scintilla of evidence for any of them being true, or indeed for one being more real than the rest. Truth is, since all religion is based on the most frightful delusion, no wonder people have been confused.

The coming of christianity was an enormous boost to mankind - it transformed life from one where life was good and afterlife was bad to one where the promise of a sublime afterlife made striving in this life really worthwhile. Christianity fuelled mankind's greatest progress, no doubt. But just as the arrival of christianity brought energy to the human endeavour after the Roman world had become jaded, so too today we need something new to take us onto the next stage of mankind's progress. Religion is no longer the answer - we need logic, secularism, democracy and sanity in public life, and we need to save our planet through positive action.

Once people undergo their personal "enlightenment", they see that all relgiion is a comforting, childish fantasy, and that the trappings of religion - dogma, religious rules, religion in pulbic life - are quite insidious and damaging to mankind. Once people have enough doubt in religion, and enough faith in their own minds, religion dies away and we grow up.

It's complicated to explain. I understand how each member sees his religion as the most correct. In fact I don't blame other people for seeing their faith as true, it's normal! But the fact is that Christianity is the true religion, and Catholicism is the most accurate branch. BUT, that doesn't mean that non-Christians cannot be saved! The Catholic church is like someone who has a PH,D in Math. Other Christians are like people with BA's in Math, while non-Christians may be high school students, with some knowledge of basic maths. In the the majority can pass an exam of certain difficulty. However those with PH, Ds will have the least trouble as they have the best and most accurate knowledge. Do you see what I'm saying?

Now someone might say, hang on, I see my religion as the one with a PH,D! I say, well you have the right to think that. But in the end it's a matter of faith, and if not that, well a matter of logic, and narrowing it down...

Many religions can be proven to be manmade. I wont name them here, cause some people are just waiting to pounce! Others can be shown to be against the natural moral code (law,) and therefore less likely to be divinely inspired. I can also offer physical evidence of miracles, apparitions, and incorrupt saints to support my answer. For info on this email me.

Good luck. I hope you can be inspired towards the truth.

Think about what you want to achieve. If you want to be with Christ in eternity, then accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you do not want to be with Him, then any other choice is fine.

I believe that the Bible is true. It says very clearly Jesus is the way and the truth and the life and no one will enter to the Father's house except through Him.

We Christians do not get saved because we are better than others. We get saved because we accept the mercy and grace from God. We cannot go to heaven through our deeds. Paul tells how to become Christian and James tells more what is expected from us once we are Christians. We are called to do good deeds but we are not saved by our deeds. I think this is so we would not boast and show arrogance more than our sinful nature does. : )

The darkness tries to cause confusion and disruption.

Divide and conquer is his method of operation.

The Holy Bible is the true complete Word of the Living God.

My mother told me that there is no preacher or person that you will agree with 100% and she said that is why I need to open the Bible and research and read it for myself.

God was merciful and taught me as he promised and showed me the light of the scriptures, even hidden things.

I know without a doubt that Jesus is the Messiah, Savior, Creator of the heavens and the earth, the only way, and His love filling your Spirit gives you the greatest peace ever known.

Open it up, and believe His Word and He honors that and acts upon it and shows you how real He really is.

Yes, if you look too much at man you will get confused.

With so many claims and counter claims how are you to decide?

First you can always pray to God to show you and reveal to you. After all as the Source He is going to know. As the Creator He is concerned for His creatures.

Secondly, if you are going to look at the religions you need to look at the original writings or authorities rather than just take the word of any Tom, Dick or Harry. No point in getting second hand, garbled information.

Thirdly, if you are going to examine them all it could take a long time and you could waste a lot of time and effort unnecessarily. Which to start with?

Consider the one with the most striking claims that cannot be copied or imitated if true and rather stands alone.

Only one has claimed to be God, has taught that he would be killed according to writings made over hundreds of years previously, and would be raised from the dead three days later according to those same writings and then was killed in exactly the way those writings described and was also raised from the dead three days later just as those writings said.

Only that one is claimed to have performed many miraculous works for the relief of suffering and misery and was especially concerned for the poor and disadvantaged and ordinary man, even those rejected as outcasts and as particularly bad people according to those writings which record his life and death and rising.

Only one requires nothing more than your consent in the form of belief in him to deliver you safe and sound in God's Kingdom because he has done it all for you so that you cannot fail, according to those writings.

Those writings were compiled by around 40 different people over some 2000 years from all different backgrounds, education and walks of life but show a perfect harmony and unity in what they speak of. There are more than 350 prophecies, some very detailed and specific which have been accurately fulfilled in the one who died and rose again, some made 2000 years prior and all at least 400 years prior. The individual writers largely had no idea their writings would be put together in this way yet each fits perfectly in place and serves it's own unique purpose.

The writings themselves claim to be inspired as God's own word and the one who died and rose again spoke of them as such. It is really only through these writings that we know anything about this one who died and rose again although weak and fearful men were changed by him to fearlessly give their lives for him and what he taught for love of him and many down the years have followed their example. Furthermore these writings claim to show you how to come into communion with the living God and many have testified to this fact. These writings do not teach a religion as such but a relationship and fellowship with God.

It seems to me that you, indeed anybody and everybody, needs to get their hands on these writings and examine them for themselves to see if these things be true for if they are your problem is solved.

Don't forget you can always ask God to show you about these writings, I'm sure He is not going to mislead or confuse you.

You know of course that I am, perhaps rather poorly, describing Jesus Christ and the Bible, but sufficiently, I hope to show you that they are compelling for an answer and this would be your best choice to examine first.

Remember don't confuse yourself by looking at men but look to God and at the original, the writings, the Bible.

All religions are invented by someone who wanted to hold or gain power over others or sometimes by someone who genuinely thought he or she was helping. Nobody knows the truth of why life started on earth, what the purpose of life is or how it will end. When I say nobody I mean nobody who is alive or has ever been alive including all the priests from all religions. However if it comforts someone to believe in a religion that is good as long as they do not try and push that belief on to someone else.

Nobody knows the "right religion" for everyone. It's not what's right for everyone, it's about what's right for you. A good way to start would be by reading of descriptions of the various religions and their denominations, and select one (or none, if that's what you choose, we'll get to that later) and build upon it. Perhaps borrowing from other religions as you go. Nobody follows the exact same belief system, that is both the most beautiful and the ugliest thing about relgion (and also the reason you, don't see very many people agreeing on anything). What is right for you, won't be right for me, just as what is right for me, won't be right for you. Nobody can tell you what to believe, and you can't tell anyone else what to believe.

If you choose none, then you have several options, you can choose to live by a philosophy and drop the dogma, or you can choose to live as you go. Whatever you may choose, good luck.
