it seems that most of the worlds religions are very judgemental. i always thought that one of the main concepts behind religion was for god(whichever god you follow) to do the judgeing and his followers to keep their noses out of other peoples busisness and worry about their own behaviour.
why then do most people of religion think it's their moral duty to stick their orr into other peoples lifes and constantly judge their values and behaviour?
i'm not trying to stir up trouble here and i'm not speaking from personal experince but i'd be intrested to hear everyones views on the subject.

I can speak only for the Christian view. Anyone who professes themself a Christian would follow the example of Jesus Christ, and the Word of God as written in the scriptures. That means no judging. Thats Gods job, and He does quite well at it without the help of man. Does that mean that Christians do not judge?
Ha - I wish. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Many judge, and according to Scripture they should repent of it. That said, keep in mind that whether a person is Christian or Buddist, people are people. We are human, and we tend to to do things we shouldn't. We all fall short. No matter what the religion, we are all guilty of judging at one time or another. Anyway, did you ever notice that God never uses people who are perfect? Thats cause there aren't any.
Have a good one --

i think of you could make a huge distinction between a *faith* judging others and a *believer* of one faith or yet another judging others. they are diverse. the essential theory is that God can choose us, yet different human beings can not. hence, if a guy or woman judges us, then that guy or woman is incorrect to realize this. and in certainty, as Jesus teaches, the degree we use to choose others is the single that God will use to choose us. So we are fools to choose others and could be judged for doing so. “choose no longer, that ye be no longer judged. For with what judgement ye choose, ye would be judged, and with what degree ye mete, it will be measured to you back.” Matthew 7:a million-2 Why do human beings forget approximately approximately this coaching? using fact they are caught up in ego - potential, hatred, anger etc - and forget approximately with regards to the religious teachings. Such human beings show to God by using their movements that they have got fallen short of their occupation of religion.

Stop being judgmental of judgemental people its not spiritualy healthy. It wasnt for me. A few years ago i was sitting on the couch stuffing myself with twinkies when one of those relgious people I thought were such hypocrits came on telling me to help her feed this starving kid. So I said to myself who is the one being judgmental who are the ones over there digging well and feeding kids. They have the gaul to be human and imperfect but at least there trying and im just stuffing my face.
So I forgave them for not being perfect and today I try and help people and try and be part of the soulution. That happens in churches mosks and temples with imperfect people trying to help the poor.

thats the concept of a religion but all people are slightly corrupt (some more than others) so they think other people not doing what their doing is wrong

I agree with you, but I also believe humans are naturally critical and judgmental of others. Religion often only encourages the negative traits and behaviors humans already have.

I think you perceive it wrongly, its not judging but showing you right from wrong. it's about discipline & knowing when you've gone too far. If a parent doesn't discipline her child, he will she learn? it's the same concept.

Thomas...living your life within the light of the love of God...and loving God with the light of your life...are absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with religion. It isn't..it never has been...and it never will be.

God bless you.

While true for many religions, it's not true for all. There are a number of nonjudgmental religions out there.

You are right. Only people have a right to their opinions; but opinions are only opinions. Be your own judge.
