I agree with poster W. Other high quality dog foods:

Blue <---PetSmart
Natural Balance,<-----Petco
Flint River<------can order online

Iams and Eukanuba are serverly overpriced for what you are getting. Boxers are prone to bloat, so feed serveral smaller meals in comparison to just one big one.

Do NOT get the stuff you get at the grocery store. It's all garbage. Corn is a cheap filler and is not digested, meaning you will have more poop in your yard. The best stuff can be found at private pet stores. Science Diet is another one that is like Iams and Eukanuba (way overpriced for what ingredients you actually get).

If it's still a puppy, go with "large breed" formulas to make sure it doesn't grow too fast since they're pretty big dogs.

You might have to try a few. My Dalmatian gets sick on, like, every food on the market and we have tried everything from cheap to super-fancy. We finally found a "healthy" formula that works OK and doesn't give her the Farty-Mc-Nasties.

One issue you might want to consider is that Boxers aren't always very calm and cooperative, so if your dog has behavioral issues, don't feed a super-premium, high protein formula. Unless it's a racing dog, it does NOT need all that protein.

But trial and error has been the only thing we've been able to do to find an OK food for my dog. Oddly enough, premium food makes her sicker and Dalmatian books advocate lower-protein, higher-grain formulas (which are cheaper.) Get a good book or check Boxer info resources to determine if your dog has any special dietary needs (Dals do.)

In my opinion, there is no food that is necessarilly right for every dog. Just as there is no food that is right for every person.
If you bought your boxer from a reputable breeder, then he or she should have given you some ideas regarding what the dog has been fed thus far.
I have been breeding & showing Champion Collies for over 30 years & my dogs have always eaten IAMS or Eukanuba.
My dogs win a lot, but there are people out there who will tell you that these foods are horrible - just as they will with any food! I also have friends who feed their show dogs Purina dog chow - which is pretty inexpensive - but their dogs look great!
So, my answer is, whatever food your dog will eat, and thrives on, is the best thing to feed him. The most important thing is to pick a food & stick with it! Do not change it frequently or you will never know what works best for your dog & he may become a picky eater.
Best of luck!

Solid Gold and Timberwolf Organics make some of the highest quality kibble available. You will find no high quality kibble in supermarkets or big reatil stores. Canidae makes good quality affordable kibble that is fairly easy to find. Of course many people swear feeding a RAW/BARF species specific diet is the only way to go. Whatever you choose you want to look at the ingredients list and pick a kibble that has at least 3 meats/protiens listed in the first 6 or 7 items. Stay away from grains, fats(oils are ok),sugars-including beet pulp,by products and colorings. Good luck

Honestly its a dog thing. For one the scent of your husband is what attracts her to them. My dog for some reason chooses my socks and underware out of all my cloths and my boyfriends. This habbit is not a good one. Because if she's eatting them pieces can become lodged in the intestines and you'll end up with a costly vet bill. Buy a hamper or keep the bedroom door closed when your not home. Its better to be safe than sorry.

There are alot of really good brands, bot I love Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. They only carry it at a few petsupply stores, but my vet recommended it, and everyone I have talked to say it is really good. I know my dogs like it, and it gives them a very nice coat.

Solid Gold, Innova, Canidae and Wellness. These are all holistic foods meaning they use all natural ingredients and they do not contain by-products or fillers. Canidae's can food smells like something a human would eat..
