Since filet is maybe the best, but not the most flavorful cut of meat, I would recommend making steak au poivre. It is convenient, because you don't have to use the grill if you don't want to, and it give it lots of flavor. I've attached a recipe from the foodnetwork that I've been dying to try.

Wrap a piece of bacon around the filet - hold it together with toothpicks.
Lightly oil or butter your cooking surface - I like to use a grill pan.
Place the heat on medium-high.
Place filet onto grill pan and cook to desired consistency - I like medium rare, so that would be six minutes per side (approximately.)

As simple as possible--let the meat do the talking. Simply marinade in a little olive oil and red wine vinegar for about an hour, then grill or broil 6-8 minutes per side, less if you like your meat rare. Remove the bacon after cooking and enjoy your steak, esp. with a baked potato and a green salad.
