sometimes automated phone lines are unavoidable, but what really irritates me about them is when you're on hold forever and they play that music and intermittently a voice comes on to tell you "we value your business"....if they valued me so much then why do they put me on hold for ever and a day??

They are the worst!!! This weekend I was in Las Vegas and spent alot of money and my bank placed my bank card on hold due to irregular activity. I called them yesterday to get this fixed and got that darn automated system. I finally got a live person on the line and they transfered me to their fraud dept. only to put me back into that same automated system. This happened like 4 times. I was on the phone for almost an hour!!!

These systems are a pet hate of mine also but i have found that if you do not press a button when asked to the system thinks you do not have a touch phone and transfers you to a "living body" even then it can be a waste of space as they try to transfer you to someone that does not speak the same language as you or the person that can fix your problem has just gone for lunch.

I love the ones that keep you going for 20 minutes pushing this and that, only to get to the part where you CAN talk to a person then it says:

"Sorry, all of our customer "service" reps are busy, please try your call again later."

then you get disconnected.

Once I get automated lines I just start pushing 0 until I get someone, then let them know that I don't like automated lines.

----

Oh, how about those that want you to talk with them? you know "If you are looking for the manager, say "manager", if you are looking for your balance tell me your account number"

Arrrggggg, I hate those things.

No kidding!
Also, check the boxes (products) lately, most of the time they're leaving off the 800# bc they don't even want calls. They just want you to go to their website and send an email they'll never read. Disgusting. Like Saran Wrap for instance! Grrr!

I do hate this. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. I've learned that most of the time if you press zero you'll be directed to a live person.

Because they're hoping you would hang up. The Other is : Our operators are busy but please stay on the line and someone will be with you shortly. How long are you going to wait for them? There's no one there to pick up. I usually hang up.
