I'm not a vet, but I have owned & shown Collies for over 30 yrs. There is probably nothing wrong with your dog. If you had had major surgery this morning, would you feel particularly hungry? LOL
Just let her relax in a quiet room where she feels comfortable. Leave water for her, but she may not eat for a day or two. She will eat when she's hungry. I wouldn't even offer her food today. If you have ever had surgery, you will know that the anasthetic makes some people (and dogs) nauseous & will cause vomiting that day & the next. That's why you are not allowed to eat or drink before surgery.
Keep an eye on her incision site for the next couple of wks. Don't let her lick or scratch at it. You can get an elizabethan collar (lamp shade) cheap at Petsmart if she insists on bothering her incision site. The incision should look neat & clean - no pus or anything like that. If it gets red or looks infected - get her to the vet ASAP.
Good luck & I'm sure she'll be fine!

Sick as in vomiting? If she's throwing up (sick) that could be because her stomach is empty and she's throwing up bile. The anesthesia could be doing this to her. It can take 6-8 hours (or as long as 24 hours) for anesthesia to be totally out of an animals system.
Water should always be offered. The vet should have explained to you at pick up when he thought it would be best to feed her. She probably won't be interested in eating until sometime tomorrow. She will be lethargic for the rest of today. Be sure to give her the pain meds as prescribed to keep her pain to a minimum. Give the antibiotics as prescribed also.
If she is sick during the night, call the vet in the morning and let them know.

You should not feed a dog the same day that it has had surgery (even after the procedure) or it will make them sick. I would not allow her to drink anything until late tonight (make sure that she doesn't drink very much) and do not try to feed her until tomorrow morning. She will be fine, and you do not need to call the vet unless you are really really worried about her.

phone the vet? Sometimes the anaesthetic can make them feel sick and she may have a sore throat from the tube they put down while she is under. Offer her some warm water to drink. The cold water may hurt her throat. Or warm up some chicken soup for her.

when i worked for a vet spays were not allowed to go home till around 5pm (after they had a full recovery from anesthia). even then we told owners not to give them food or water for 2 hours after going home. And then when they did feed them only give them 1/2 of normal meal. Also to make sure they didn't gulp a bunch of water. These things will most likely cause vomiting. I would call the vet now though and let them know what is going on. (vomiting post surgery can be caused by other things as well)

Probably nothing to worry about, but speak to your vet if you're concerned - keep asking them to explain what is happening until you understand. Your vet is the one who performed the operation and they will know better than ANYONE on here.
Also - I'd be wary of advice on here if I were you. I'm not a vet but I could quite easily claim to be over the internet. Other people MIGHT do this, to give their answer more credibility than it might otherwise deserve.

If your dog just had surgery this morning, the anesthesia isn't out of her system yet (causing her to be lethargic and making her vomit). It may also give her chills as it works its way out of her body.
Make sure she has access to water, but otherwise leave her alone. She probably won't be hungry until late tomorrow. Make sure she's kept warm; wrap her in a blanket if she'll let you, and keep her in a darkened quiet room.
(Most vets keep the dogs overnight for exactly this reason.)

Dont worry about foor just make sure there is water nearby if she needs it. This is a major op and she will feel groggy for a while. I remember when our girl was done she didnt move all day and i slept of the couch. Next morning she was great and had climbed up beside me during the night. For now let her rest. If the sickness persists then ring the vet but it is probably a reaction to the anesthetic.

She is probably being sick after the anaesthetic. However, I do think you should give the vet a ring...they do have out of hours numbers where you can talk to a vet and get advice and they'll see the dog tonight if they think necessary.
Hope that helps.
