Have you already had a court order issued to pay child support?
In Idaho its 17% of gross income for 1 child,25% for two and 33% for three kids.
I heard they can only garnish 50%, but not positive on that matter.

They will garnish up to 100% of the wage so it will always be better for you to either negotiate a reasonable child support amount and make the payments or even just make partial payments try to renegotiate the amount with your ex. They are your kids, don't be a statistic.

In Idaho they can not only garnish 100% of your wages, they can also take a kidney for transplant.

If you're not supporting another spouse or child, apart from the child you were ordered to pay support for, they can garnish 60% of your net earnings.
If you do have another spouse or child(ren), apart from the other child or spouse, it's 50% or your net earnings.
It's better to pay the child support. Not paying subjects you to garnishment of your paycheck and future tax refunds. Besides, you're not hurting your ex, you're hurting your child.
