Well.... one would need special equipment- harness/ container, main parachute, reserve parachute, all which would have to be specially made to fit this man.... I would lose weight before I jumped- think of it this way:

The average skydiver falls at 120 mph and weighs between 100 and 250 pounds.... if a 500 pound man went skydiving, he would fall a lot faster- 200 + miles per hour. When you pull out your parachute, it slows you down from 120 mph to about 20 to 40 mph, and sometimes the impact of the chute opening can hurt. Do you really want to be going 200+ mph, then pull out your chute and have the impact nearly kill you?

Even skydivers who freefly and go at speeds that are 300 mph + get stable and slow down to 120 before they pull.

My boyfriend had a premature deployment (his parachute came out without him pulling it), he weighs 160 pounds.... it almost broke his neck.

Think about it. I wouldn't do it. Besides, any dropzone with any sort of credibility would be crazy.

Yup. As a nurse who skydives, I talk as many people as I can into jumping at least once. Something happens to our bodies' electromagnetic field that is highly beneficial, sorta like a washing off of electrical debris and and a rebooting once we are not grounded to the earth. Afterwards, many health conditions improve, especially depression, which is usually the main contributor to obesity. Every single one of my obese nursing friends lost all of their excess weight after their single jump and maintain excellent health to this day. It might possibly be all due, though, to having thought one was about to die. : )
