Does seem crazy, but with adoptive/foster carers, there is the hope we can weed out the abusers. Lets face it, abusers are attracted to professions that allow contact with kids. Doesn't protect from predatory paedo's seeking step status, or those 'natural' parents who aren't (caring).

If the state takes a child away from its natural family, it is required to provide a markedly better environment for the child than they would receive at home due to having to make up for the grief and loss the child experiences by being taken from their home, family, friends and community. In order to assure that this happens, the government is supposed to have higher standards for foster parents than for birth parents.

I have never treated foster or adoptive parents differently to people who are biological parents as long as they love the child/ren unconditionally.

I didn't know they were. I adopted a child years ago and I'm not treated any differently than if I had given birth to him--at least I don't think so!

Because the children that you acquire through these means are being placed with you through regulated agencies whose employees can be fired if they do a poor job. Most domestic placements have connections to family and past caregivers that need to be coordinated as well. It's not as simple as signing a piece of paper and plunking the child in your lap.

they shouldn't be. I dont know why they are. in what way are they treated differently, while they are in the adoption process or do you mean how other parents see them differently.

They shouldnt. they are doing a better thing for society than all the parents who have natural children because they are taking over another parents child. they should be praised, not judged.
