A liked a guy who already had a girlfriend. They broke up Saturday, he is pretty sad. I was wondering how long I should wait before asking him out. Thanks.

Well I'm not a guy but I'm pretty smart when it comes to these things. First off, you should approach him now, but NOT to tell him you want to hook up or be in a relationship with him. Since you sau he is still sad, you should take this opportunity to take him out and just be around to make him smile. Nothing too mushy of coarse, but if he likes sports you may wanna watch the game with him or go play pool. By doing this he can see there's no pressure coming from you (which is what he doesnt need right now). He may not feel like opening up to you and talking about it (most guys dont), but having fun with a hot girl is always a good thing! Maybe after a few weeks, check in on him periodically to make him smile and to keep you on his mind, then he may even ask YOU out. If not, steer clear of pressuring him! Just ask if he has time to see a movie or something small. Eventually you'll know when to move in to ask him out on a real date if he hasnt already asked you. Give it some time though because once again he may not want the pressure OR another girlfriend. This approach gives you the flexibility to just have fun with him and be in his presence.

Say something to him now, before someone else does.

Tell you understand the situation but that you would like to start dating him. He will let you know if it is too early. They were just dating not married, come on.

You might meet him for a chat. So he can have someone to talk to about his break-up. You'll probably be able to suggest an informal date to just hang out. You'll be able to judge how receptive he is to another relationship and when.

What's your intention? You want to be with him long term or just hook up with him.

If you want a long term thing give him time to mourn. Say month or so.

If you want a hook up then call him up and tell him you know how to chase his blue away. Then go do just that.
