If your dog is constantly licking her paws then there is an issue....did you not consider this was not normal.

Dogs usually lick their paws constantly when they have allergies, I suggest you visit your Vet.

Never actually heard of a dog getting hair balls but anyways...

Maybe you need to brush your dog more often. She probably shouldn't be ingesting that much hair. If you brush her there will be less hair to swallow, and then she won't be coughing up hairballs all the time. There is an ointment that you can feed to cats to help them digest hair more easily. There must be something similar for dogs. Talk to your vet.

It's not normal for dogs to have hairballs. It sounds like your real problem is obsessive licking. I'd try to redirect her. She sounds bored. Perhaps a Kong or puzzle type toy with dog treats inside.

Put mineral oil in their food, it helps them to stop shedding so much therefore there isnt so much fur in the air and they wont get hairballs that often! i have 8 dogs so i've tried it it works!

Try to comb the dog when you have time by combing you pick up those extra hairs that might form into a hair ball. I comb my cat and seem to have very little or no hair balls.
