Many people believe that starting them on solids at 5months can lead to food allergies later.... I would definitely talk to pediatrician first!

Possibly. Look for some signs that the baby is ready. Can he hold his head pretty steady without support? A "bobbly-head" baby will have difficulty eating from a spoon. Does the baby show some interest in watching others eat? Does he watch the spoon go to your mouth, open his mouth when the food goes by him, try to reach for things on the table? How is his tongue-thrust reflex? If you put a spoon in his mouth, does he repeatedly push it back out with his tongue? If so, he may not be ready as this reflex needs to subside before he can successfully take the food into his mouth and swallow it. There is no need to rush into feeding a baby solids. Formula and/or breast milk contains all the nutrients a baby needs for the first 6 months of life. If your baby seems ready before then, give him a little thinly made rice cereal after his bottle or nursing to see how he does. If it doesn't go well, wait a week or 2 and try again.

It is really recommended that you wait until your baby is 6 months before introducing solids because babies digestive tracks are very fragile and it's hard for them to digest solids. Babies get their main source of nutrition from breastmilk or formula during their first year. The only reason to introduce solids before a year is to help prepare them for table foods once they reach one year of age. Starting babies on solids too early has been linked to allergies, childhood diabetes and obesity. Why take the chance?

I suggest waiting one more month and then start out with baby rice cereal, which is easier for babies to digest. After a few weeks, you can start introducing stage one baby foods. Wait 3-5 days before introducing any new food to make sure your baby doesn't have any allergic reactions. It is suggested to introduce vegetables first because fruits are sweeter and they may reject the veggies if given fruits first.

Pediatricians are now recommending no solid food before 6 months. This is to avoid the development of food allergies, as well as the fact that an infant's intestines aren't developed enough yet to digest and absorb solids.

My family doctor told us at my son's four month check-up that I could start introducing solids such as single grain cereals (like rice cereal) and to mix it thinly to start with. Take your time and if your baby doesn't want it try again in a few days and just keep trying, eventually he or she will be a pro at eating off of a spoon. Also take your time before introducing new foods and be sure to still offer either breast milk or formula since this should still be their main form of nutrition. The best thing that you could do at this point is to talk to your doctor and see what he or she recommends.

Some doctors will say you can start rice cereal between 4 and 6 months, but almost all will say wait until 6 months to try fruits and veggies. They're digestive system is not ready before that.

I would say yes. Try it. Remember try only 1 (the same) food a week so you can make sure they are not alergic!! Mix the baby food with a little baby cereal it helps fill them up more?! I used to add a little formula in with my kids food to help the transition!! Good luck...

When my two children were 3 months old I started them on baby cereal and baby fruit, by the time they were 5 months they were eating cereal and a jar of fruit for breakfast, a jar of veggies and fruit for lunch and a jar of a dinner and vegetable for supper, your baby will sleep so much better and both of mine turned out very healthy, if they spit it out at first keep spooning it in their mouth they will get used to it in a hurry.

It depends on the child and what you mean by solid food. If you are talking about cereal and Baby food, then probably. If you mean steak, then more than likely not...

I started mine at 4 months, You need to start slow and build up. Start with just breakfast for a few weeks and slowly bring the other meal times in.
