I have a bunch of pictures and want to stitch them together to a movie.

Hey hey, I make Half-life videos so I create videos using the included startmovie tool(It produces sequential BMPs). The tool I use to combine all those BMPs together and export into AVI format (with codec options) is bmp2avi. It is a free ware available here:

Doubt that you will find a converter for bmp to avi! Bitmaps are very low resolution! You need a gif animator! Try microsoft gif animator, its free.
