just fine all weekend. This morning I gave her some food and water and she hasn't eaten a thing. She's drank very little. She's been a little less playful and threw up green liquid with something that looked like grass in it. I've made a vet appointment already for her checkup and to have her spayed tomorrow. But I'm just curious about this behavior. Should I be worried or is this something that will pass.

yes, hopefully what ever she swallow she'll pass it through. dogs/puppies tend to swallow objects like socks, balls, anything. good luck , i hope it's nothing serious.

It might be that you are feeding her a different food than she is used to. It may be upsetting her stomach and she ate grass to make herself throw up. Give her a little more time to adjust before you panic, since you are going to the vet soon anyway just let it ride for now. Unless it gets worse, keep an eye on her.

If she was fine earlier and then declined, she may be ill. Let the vet know of her current state and take a fecal (poop) sample with you when you go to the vet's office.

Sudden lethargy can be a symptom of intestinal parasites (or even the dreaded Parvo); a test of the poop will let the vet if your dog is dealing with either of these issues.

They may not be able to do the spay surgery if she's sick.

Thank you for adopting a shelter dog!

if it looked like grass, it probably was. lots of dogs will eat grass to settle their stomachs and make themselves vomit. she could just be a little stressed out from the change in enviroment, but its good that you have a vet appointment. just keep an eye on her, try to get her to drink more water, dont worry so much about food, if shes hungry, she'll eat. but if she's still feeling icky, she might not. if you think she just has an upset tummy, you can make her some boilled chopmeat and rice. its easy to digest and they'll usually eat it.

It's possible that she is a bit sick to her stomach if you chnaged the type of food she was eating at the shelter. Dogs often have stomach upset from a change in food. Also, the chnage in environment may have stressed her a bit. Check with the vet tomorrow. You need to withhold food today anyway if she is being spayed tomorrow, and that might settle her stomach.

Have your vet check for Parvo. A canine disease which can come on very suddenly, and pets often do not eat or drink. The green liquid could be bile from her stomach. Parvo is a nasty disease for which she should be vaccinated for. If she is diagnosed with parvo, the sooner she gets treated the better off she will be. Good luck and take care of that little one.

Mostly likely it will pass. Sounds like she eat to much and is constipated. The greens were when she ate some grass so she could try to digest her food and it came back up.

She's not used to just eating as much as she wants so be carefull with portions.

Next make sure you are not feeding her store brand dog food. It's garbage. Get a good brand. You don't have to go nuts just avoid no name brands.

YEs you should be worried. Just because she was fine when you got her from the shelter the shelter is the worse place for a puppy to ever be. Parvo, distemper, worms are all there going from kennel to kennel.

Be sure she takes plenty of fluids and if the gums trun white or grey she will need iv fluids from the vet asap. The gums is the easiest way to tell if a pet is dehydrating.

It could be anything. I wouldn't worry too much since she's going to the vet tomorrow! Just make sure you tell them what's happening.

Dogs will eat grass when their tummy is upset. So it probably was grass!

She could be just adjusting to her new surroundings. The first couple of days were probably a high for her being with a new family. Mention it to the vet though. There will be more odd behaviour to come with her being spayed. Sounds like she's sensitive.

Make sure that this is not signs of GDV or aka bloat. Large chested breeds (esp labs) tend to gobble their food and water and if this is followed by play time that could mean bad news for ur lab. If it continues in to tonight and her abdomen is bloated and sore to touch, take her to your local emergency clinic ASAP, it is deadly.
She also could have just ate too much grass and it upset her tummy :(
