Older cats often adjust to a kitten better then another older cat! My oldest cat is 10 and we got a new one and he was 3 and they hated each other, then I got a kitten that was about 8 weeks old and my oldest cat adjusted to the kitten way faster then the 3 year old! Kittens are pain sometimes but I would say that that would be the better choice!

Actually I have a 15 year old cat that never got along with any other cats.I found a stray kitten 2 weeks ago and they are now sharing the garage comfortable.I think its better to get a younger cat,the older one doesn see it as a big threat.

It would actually be easier for her to get use to a kitten rather than an older cat who is set in its ways. Give it a shot a it might take a week or two for them to get use to each other, but if you really think that your cat is lonely, it is worth a try.

My parents were in the same situation and they finally got a new cat for their cat who was lonely. At first he hated the new cat because it was intruding on his territory. After a month or so, he warmed up and they were sleeping and playing together all the time.
Things should work out, it just may take time.
