Okay, I am totally confussed with Henna. I was reading testimonials on the hennaforhair.com site and it seems like everyone just threw together anything and everything and slathered it on their head! How do I know how much of what to use and what color hair it will give me???? I don't want to end up with a head full of shockingly RED or ORANGE hair!!

Henna has always been an at-home beauty staple. People use it in all different ways and different hair types and colors will get different results. The color also changes as time goes by. The more you wash your hair, the more it will tone down. It also comes off on your pillow sometimes. I think the best way to know is to experiment. Can you experiment with small strands of your hair to see how your color will come out before youdo the whole head? I don't use it because I'm a blond, but have had brunette friends who have used it. It usually comes out pretty, almost like a red highlight. Good luck.

Henna is a "natural" hair color that can only add color depth. It can not lighten your hair. It's made with herbs. It is usually packaged for one application. It's a temporary color and will wash out gradually. If you choose an auburn color and have blonde hair you will get red or orange so if you are a blonde choose a buttercup or any lighter color.

Paige, you can always ask questions at the forum on hennaforhair. There has also been a newly published pdf file on the site for henna'ing hair instructions, history, etc. ALSO, in the site you can locate different recipes and photos for what those recipes yielded. Good luck.

And remember, the more you henna your hair, the deeper and richer the color gets!

I use to use henna all the time and I got soooo many compliments on my hair color. HOWEVER, I have naturally dark hair. It changes shades as well. For example, the first week or so, my hair was dark brown w/ these purplish highlights. But as time went on, it turned into auburn highlights. Its gorgeous in the sun when its in the red tones. But, you really need to research it since its going to depend on your natural hair color. I love it... I haven't found anything that compares to its color and shine.

do research. Certain items produce different changes to the color, this is well documented. Also, Henna will not bleach your hair, it only tints your natural hair. So if you have dark brown hair, it'll be more of an auburn. It you're the blondest of blonds, you're going to be a red head.

No not at all. Its so healthy for your hair and it wont give you drastic results if you watch how long you keep in your hair. The longer you keep it in the brighter your hair will be. Also it depends on the color of your hair. I put it in my hair and it didn't do a thing to it but my sister who has lighter hair, it made her hair a nice red. I agree do research.

Henna can only darken the hair. Not lighten it.So use it if you wanna darken your hair because thats all henna can do.And the bottles it comes in should tell you what shade youll get.
