No, you are not in a recession. Actually you might have a slowed growth... but a recession means that you have consistant negative growth of an economy for a number of months.
Please ignore people saying otherwise. Its one of those words that people like to use to convince themselves there is an armegeddon soon to be expected.

Doctor J is an absolute idiot. The American economy is faltering bigtime. Everywhere you look there are lay-offs. I bet none of you understand the Austrian trade cycle and know the truth about the federal reserve. Idiots quote the GDP without really appreciating what it is or how it relates to everyday life.

Actually, the economy is quite strong. Unemployment is very low, inflation is reasonable, and GDP growth and income growth are strong.
However, if the dems raise the minimum wage (which will put many low wage earners out of work), raise taxes, etc. , then yes, a significant recession will be around the corner.

This is more of the same everytime we have a republican president. Now we have to worry about this new national insurance deal Bush has comming out. It will be considered as taxable income. Like we do not get enough taxes and with the way work is going over seas, it is just one more worry to be dealt with.

You haven't seen anything yet. When the new congress starts making the changes they are planning it will really go to pot. These things you mentioned happened after they were only elected. Just wait till they raise taxes.
