I would stop. I have known 4 people who did not stop smoking, and 3 of them had very small babies and all 4 have children with asthma. It is in the best interest of the baby to stop, and the woman who don't are just being selfish. It is one thing to put poision in your own body, but the baby does not have a choice. I am an occasional smoker, but will not smoke anywhere near my kids or inside anywhere. I also change clothes and take a shower after I smoke to get the residue off me. I smoke about once a week, sometimes less.

I wouldnt say..Yeah keep smoking or start again... it is awsome that you did quit. But as a mother of 2 (going on 3) I smoked with my first two. I have two healthy beautiful children. But dont start again... it will be better for you both in the long run.. take it from me i know!! Maybe I just got lucky with healthy kids?! No your baby will not go through withdrawls but even if it did do you want him/her addicted to cigeretts at birth? Just dont smoke... it will be better!! Good luck with new baby!!

There are many ill effects on the fetus, one being small birth weight, but also your child will be addicted when it is born, if you don't quit. It has a better chance or not developing allergies, asthma, and a long list of other side effects. It's better for you and your baby, do what is right, and don't listen to your friends who obviously only cared about themselves and not an innocent child.

I quit too when I found out I was pregnant, but I know a girl who smoked like a chimney and though the baby was an average size at birth, he was still wearing 3 month old clothes at 1, and this stupid bi**h thought it was cute!!! Good for you for quitting, it's the best thing for you and your baby.

I have never smoked as i think its filthy, so my 3 kids were all a healthy weight. My cousin smoked through her pregnancies and had tiny babies. If you want a healthy child don't continue to smoke, as for your co workers if they are too selfish to give there children the best start to life, they shouldn't be having babies. I feel sorry for their children.

they only say to taper off, not just keep smoking entirely. It's not that its not good for the baby to go cold turkey, but its the feelings YOU get when you try to quit that way that may not be good for her. Unless they misunderstood their doctor, i think its just an excuse for them NOT to quit smoking when they were pregnant.

This "going through withdrawls" thing is about the biggest load I've ever heard; and this isn't the first time I've heard it. Smoking is bad for the baby and will cause complications.

Smoking is trashy but nothing is more trashy than a pregnant woman smoking. Have some class and quit.

it does affect the fetus in many many ways. Consider all the toxins and poisoins that you put through the child's bloodstream.
There is also the withdrawal that the child will suffere when it's born. What then? Will it majically stop have cravings? Tell you friend to get a second opinion please.
