some of yall might have seen my question yesterday, when my dog was having her babies. Well she gave birth to 4 beautiful little puppies, but the sad part is 2 of them died. Well my question is, is it safe to give my dog a bath, or is it little to soon for her to take baths right now, she's kind of a mess from yesterday.

Wipe her clean, but don't use any detergents - that might cause an alergic reaction.

Just wipe her down with a damp towel and wipe her dry. Give her at least a week before you bath her, and then make sure you use something that is safe like regular dog shampoo or even johnson & johnson baby shampoo. And make sure you rinse her off completely and dry her well before letting her go back to the puppies.

I'm sorry I didnt see your question when the dog was having puppies...I saved 2 puppies by pulling them out, breaking the sac and then rubbing them to stimulate breathing. I'm sorry...
No, do not bathe her. Her babies need to know the mommy smell. Just dampen a towel and kinda wash her off....give it a few weeks, even if she's matted down.
Good luck and thanks for caring so much for the pups!

New moms are actually incredibly meticulous and clean themselves up very well after giving birth. Unless she's excessively messy, just leave her be. She won't want you fussing around her right after she's had her babies anyway; and you don't want to run the risk of her catching a chill after a bath.
Congratulations on your surviving pups!

I always give them a bath the next day, but water only no soap of any kind. Be sure to dry her as best you can.

Its a little bit to soon. Let the puppies get used to her smell and then wait until the puppies eyes are open. Besides, she probably wouldn't let you near her right now. She would be to worried about her puppies. Trust me, I work in a pet shop.

She will take care of herself, leave her alone and let her take care of the remaining two and herself. She knows what to do, just stay back and watch. Don't bathe her at all for several weeks, until the pups are gone, as stated above, she knows what to do.

You don't want to give her a bath yet. Don't use any detergent around her nipples. The puppies find them by smell, you don't want to use anything that will harm them.

As I've never whelped a *****, I can't say from knowledge, but rather knowing dogs. I wouldn't suggesting bathing in a tub, right now, she needs more rest then exposure to water and chills, I'd say this is the time in a dog's life when she's at her cleanest, she'll bathe her pups, help them urinate, and so on, but you could probably sponge bathe her if you would like, however depending on her, she may not like you to touch her tender areas quite yet.

Leave her be. Her puppies need to recognize her scent. If you go changing her smell, they may have problems. Any cleanser you sue on the mother could also harm the puppies.
She'll clean herself up soon enough.
