Yes, I've seen it done at weddings and it goes over big! Just keep a few things in mind 1-Make sure the caterer uses fresh candy (or it will stick together and become a blob) 2-make sure the candy is kept in closed jars (for the germaphobes) 3-make sure they have scoopers or tongs 4-make sure there are little containers that guests can put the candy into to take with them 5-make sure the caterer keeps the candy jars constantly refilled (they will get empty fast) and Last, but not least- pick candy everyone will love like M&Ms and stuff like that.

I couldn't find it on the knot. If I'm thinking right you are planning to do just candy as a favor? We did. I think it sounds like a great idea, we had a specialty chocolate shop make some pieces for us (we had a Jamaican themed reception, did I mention I got to wear two dresses!) anyway, they made coconut chocolates, pineapple, moca, coffee etc. We also had some typical favorites, cookies, oh, did I mention we did the kid's buffet separate....no gross fingers here!
P.S. Look up the wedding wishes jar on theknot.com.
Have fun and be creative! GL!

Personally, I would love to go to a wedding that had one. I know I've seen specialty bios on TheKnot about candy buffets, maybe ask around there to see who has done them and how they kept costs down.
I also think that edible favors are generally better. Think about other, non-edible favors you've gotten as a guest. Where do they usually end up? Shoved in the back of a drawer? In the trash? Do you sometimes even forget to take them home?

I think that it is becoming a more popular thing nowadays. I have seen it first hand and even though it was very nice, some of the guests (except the kids) were confused as to what they should do (bag their own or wait to be bagged).
I would do it- but not if there are a bunch of kids!

We gave out edible favors at our wedding. People will probably enjoy something that tastes yummy more than something they have to bring home. I know personally, I often lose or throw away wedding favors because I don't know what to do with them, but most people will eat the candy at the reception and enjoy it!

I love this idea, I think it would be awesome!
However, I think its really expensive, you might want to check into how much its actually going to cost before you go ahead with this plan.

I really like the idea. I don't know how much they cost, but you could probably create one yourself fairly reasonably.
