Good question!
I was acutally told that I had one. Its painful, yes, but its definetly easy to take care of.
There are actually two kinds of cysts - Functional and Corpus Luteum.
I don't have exact details other than what I've read and heard from others, but...
The Functional cysts go away on their own, or can essentially be ruptured. They're filled with fluid that just absorbs back into the body.
the other ones, Corpus Luteum, is solid and can be removed with a simple day surgery procedure. They'll open it up and see what caused it.

I can say from experience they hurt, but... they're not life threatening. They can be pathological, meaning that they're a sign/symptom of something else, but its nothing to worry about unless the doctor says there's something up.

Well. It really doesn't matter your age or anything, they most likely will do surgery to remove the one cyst, and clean out the area where the other ruptured. If you have endimitriosis associated with PCFS, they'll most likely remove your female anatomy, for your health, and the sake of well being. They should have given you some type of screening to view the advancement of your cysts, and taken pictures. I would ask to know all the what-ifs, and what-might-happens. That way you are prepared to get things in order, like childcare and financial sitchuations. Good luck. I hope all is well.

My best friend has two sists on her overie, and they are not bad. She takes a medicine that is disolving the sists, and she feels fine, as long as the sists are not cacerous, then your mom should be fine. Good Luck!!!

A CYST on the OVARY can either be left alone as long as it's not causing any problems, OR it can be removed during an outpatient procedure. Not too painful.

I've had ovarian cysts, they are painful (kindof feels passing kidney stones, I've been told), but they should disappear on their own. In the meantime, buy your Mum a hot water bottle...it will help a little with the pain and remind her that you are thinking of her.

It isn't as bad as it sounds so don't worry, there actually very small and hard to see, there are some side effects which are more superficial than anything else. So don't worry
