My 3 cats and dog all love to chase the red light from a laser pointer. They are always ready for it!

We have spent quite a bit of money for toys for my 6 month old kitten, yet my cat's favorite toy - paper - she loves to shred it.
No matter what we do, we can't break her of this. If there are no tissue around, she'll go through the trash to find some, she'll take it off the roll in the bathroom, take napkins out of the holder on the table, or even get onto the counter and get the paper towels. This is all done while we are at work. She knows she's not supposed to be on the counters or tables, but the call of paper is too strong.

Without a doubt laser light pointers -- they even make some specifically for cats that are safe. This just drivers her bonkers! I had never seen her so excited, simulated and inter-active till I got one of these. A few times she even picked the pointer up off the coffee table, brought it into the bed and woke me up at 3:00 am -- so I would play with her!
Oddly, the other thing that drives her nuts and that she loves is crumpled up post-it notes. She'll bat those around and chase them for hours.
Lastly, there is a toy called a "cat teaser" or "cat dancer" that is basically a stick with a long strip of tie-dyed fleece on the end. I'll flick this around and get her going.
Hope this helps -- I find the more basic cat toys seem to be the best. --Andy

Hi there...oddly enough some of the other best toys cats always love are the free ones such as cardboard boxes, paper bags, plastic bottlecaps, plastic rings from beverage bottles, wadded up paper balls and tinfoil, corks, etc. The wonderful thing about these too is that once their life has been degraded than can be easily replaced for free.
The best purchased toy seems to be lazer lights as cats love to chase something they just can never seem to get.

Mine love the little furry mice, they won't leave them alone. I'll put them in their toy basket when I go to bed and in the morning they're all over the apartment again.
Laser-pointers are a big hit around here, too. As is the "chase" toy, basically a stick with a long strip of fabric at the end... they'll run after that until my arm is ready to fall off.

The only thing our cats ever really played with on a regular basis were those balls that had little bells inside them. Everything else just sat around most of the time untouched. Lol we had one of those things too, I forgot about it. Yeah those were fun but our cats always managed to get the ball out some how.

I am the great spoiler when it comes to my kitty, my husband has about had it. I think the best thing is the thing with platforms they can jump in and it has a place to hide. (it is called a kitty condo). It also has climbing/scratching posts on it. The cat loves it. I also bought the kitty a little tunnel like the ones kids have, only smaller, designed for kittys and we play it together. We each go on one side and then she will pounce and run at me. I also bought her all kinds of balls and mice and cat teasers.

My cats ignore toys unless they have nip in them. Their favorite "toys" are plastic shopping bags, boxes, wrapping paper, Balled up pieces of paper and other such things. Mine also like the laser pointer but it drives them crazy. They continue to look for it long after it is put up.

Well, I got my kitten before Christmas, he's about 4 months old and I went out and bought him all the toys that Petsmart had...now, his favorite thing is my daughters mickey mouse ears feathered headband with feathery ball antennaes. He carries it around the entire house in his mouth, drags it up onto my couch to sleep with...I just went home for lunch, and there he was curled up in my bed, hanging out with his girlfriend...a headband....I think he may have problems, lol

This might sound wierd, but my cat always plays with the little plastic lids off of gallon milk jugs. Hejust bats them around kinda like a hockey puck.
