That sounds like one dodgy jewelers! The majority of the value in jewelery is in the raw price for the materials used. So if this ring is gold with several gems set into it, it will be worth more than £60. I think they were trying to get it on the cheap. I'd have a few more people look at it, but remember these jewelers will be selling it at the market price, and so they won't be giving you that. eBay is not a good idea, unless you put a reserve on it, that is for the value of the gold and gems as scrap.

1. Keep it - its still a nice ring.
2. Sell it for whatever you can get.
3. Online auction it - on ebay or wherever.
4. Ask a good jeweller what it could be turned into.
5. Give it back to whoever gave it to you.
6. Bury it at the beach and make some kids or metal detectorist's day.
7. Donate it to the Alzheimer's Society - they are collecting jewellery at the moment to raise funds. Send it and/or any jewellery, broken, old or new to OGA, Alzheimer's Society, Freepost SW8 743, Gordon House, 10 Greencoat Place, London, SW1P 1YY

Sell it on ebay, it will sell straight away if you have a good picture of it, try if you have it, put the receipt on the picture too. If you dont fancy that then you could have the stones if you have any taken out and use them to put in a necklace or braclet or even earings or a brouche.

Go to a different jeweller to see if you can get a better quote - if you want to get rid of it that is. Why not just wrap it up in a box and put it away somewhere? You might regret it if you sold it.

Try selling it on E-bay, but don't tell them anything about why you and your ex aren't together. People don't like to buy jewelry with bad history behind it. Ask for 450 or best offer.
If that doesn't work get them melted down into earrings.

Craigslist.com is a great website to sell/buy. Try there, that way local buyers can see it in person and you may be able to get close to the same price you bought it.
