You already have the answer to your question, if what frightens you is to take a look a the needle, then don't look at it and you'll be ok, anyway you don't have to face needles on a daily basis unless you need to have daily insulin shots or you're on drugs LOL.

As a former Dentist I can understand and sympathize with your fears but let me assure you they are unfounded . When I was in Dental school many years ago,we sterilized needles between use and over time the point lost it's sharpness and did cause a measure of discomfort . By the late 60's however disposable needles came into use and they are so sharp that they literally slip under the skin with no pressure . So pain is not the issue unless some sensitive structures are in the path of injection and I always tried to prepare the patient for the mild discomfort to be experienced . Stretching the tissue tight ,distracting the patient by talking ,having a pleasant ,non threatening manner can all help but the biggest obstacle to an injection being a "non event" ,is patient preconceptions . Many of these date back to child hood fears and doting parents warning of "needles" and "shots" and not "hurting" . Thus bad associations are formed lasting a life time .
You just have to discard childish fears ,relax ,don't fixate on the needle so much ,close your eyes and think positive thoughts and after the first few tries ,you'll find the fears unjustified

Every time you look at the needle, remind yourself that one injection takes away eight to ten days worth of remembering to swallow pills for a bacterial infection, or the pain or possible death from a virus that is prevented with the injection. Ask yourself, "Self, what is more fearsome, polio, measles, tetnus, strep, and whooping cough, or a small needle?" Your innate sense of logic will tell you it is the illness, and that the needle is your friend. Good luck to you, admitting your fear is half the problem solved.

I, too, have an irrational fear of needles. Unfortunately, due to health issues, I have to get blood tests done every few months. So I've worked out an approach that gets me through this unpleasant experience pretty well. Here's what I do:
When the technician calls me into the cubicle, I immediately say to him/her: "I'm a fainter, so please don't show me anything or tell me anything--I need to look away, and the best thing you can do is distract me with some conversational chatter." Of course the technicians never want anyone fainting on them, and in my experience they have always been happy to accommodate me and distract me, and get the whole thing over with as quickly and painlessly as possible.

face the fear, confront it
Overcome your fear by facing that needle daily until you feel OK with it

Needle is neede when you have injection for flu shot, operation etc and also blood test in the medical lab

it is part of life and you have to accept it.

If you are not comfortable with spider, as I am, - it is OK, I have no business with this creature and just avoid them

I always bring someone with me and have them talk about a subjuct that I feel deeply about. I am usually so absorbed in the conversation I totally forget about the needle.

Force yourself to confront the situation and try not to think about it while it happens as much a possible. Needles don't hurt you and they're not scary and deadly. Think about it. Maybe watch others get shots to allow your subconscious to see how harmless they are. Here's a video of people getting shots: http://youtube.com/watch?v=vlGa8xWzwOU

To end your fear if needles, stick a needle 10 needles in your eyeball and the fright will go away. Trust me, I have tried it with my retarded brother and he just laughed. I am sure you will be the same. You feel like my brother, pricky and bloody. I am veterinarian so I know about needles. They are not scary.

Take a safety pin and stab yourself repeatedly with it, then get seweing needles, find sharp objects around the house and then use them to stab yourself with till you no longer fear the sharpness or the pain, then when you nearly bleed to death call 911. Good luck! Happy Stabbing Day!!!
