And hot flashes will follow or as I like to call them... Power surges! I also never had acne till my 40's. There are no sure fire cures - everyone's skin is different so no one cure will work for everyone. Cleaning with a gentle cleanser and using a toner at night and in the morning will help on the surface breakouts but not the deep acne - your doctor may be able to recommend a hormone therapy for those. The sauna or hot compresses will help bring the deep to the surface but not stop it from happening in the first place.

Do not try the other answer involving dry ice. You run the risk of frost bite.
A facial sauna might only make matters worse.
Before you spend any more money on OTC products, consult a dermatologist. You might be suffering from rosacea instead of adult acne. Rosacea can be aggravated by heat/steam and scrubs.
A dermatologist can help you determine the cause of the breakouts and give you a reliable regimen.
I've had experience with both adult acne and rosacea. In both cases, a visit to the dermatologist has been very helpful.

You have probably entered into Peri-menopause. The fluctuation in hormones is what creates teen acne. That is why it isn't cured until they grow out of it. You may want to consider talking to your MD. Stress can also be a major contributor to testosterone production which will cause a woman to have acne. Don't waste your cash on topical treatments or "facial saunas."

Try washing with 'dermalogica' products, they do a particularly good anti acne moisuriser and face wash. The face wash is like powder, you add a little bit of water to it and lather it up in your hands before applying. Okay so most of the stuff is more expensive than your average high street store stuff but if it doesn't work for you I would be very very very surprised.

My mother went through the same thing when she was about your age (she's 57 now). She went to her family doctor and he gave her a prescription acne cream, an 8oz tube (almost as big as a toothpase tube) was only $20. There are also oral anti-acne meds, but they are a little more pricy.

I agree with 'Panz', Dermalogica do excellent products, normally they cost about £20 each whjch isn't too bad when your skin is so bad. Its probably hormonal anyway, any changes in hormones can cause spots. Go on line to www.perfectskindirect.co.uk and get a consultation online - they should send you free samples for you to try. Take it from there.

Acne sucks! I've been using a treatment for a year now and so far it's the only one that's worked good for me. I'm almost free from acne now! I highly recommend it.

Try to dry ice it. I know it sounds weird but I worked at a aethetics office. Don't leave it on there just pat it and it dries up the acne.
