So big eck is the man to lead Scotland forward is he. The man who won 2 championships because Celtic were busy with other matters, but got pummelled in the seasons when Celtic really tried to win the league. The man who in guiding Rnagers to the last 16 of the `CL`, lost his job because the Gers were getting pumped by the wee diddy teams in the SPL. If Mc Leish is such a great manager, how come he has been on the dole since leaving Rangers. West Ham, Charlton, Leeds, Sheffield Weds, Hearts, Hibs and Rangers have all needed new gaffers, but didn`t turn to big Eck. Do they know something we don`t?

The guy who let Paul Lambert go on a free from Motherwell, the same Paul Lambert who one several trophies AFTER this, including the European Cup, sure has an eye for a player!! I don't necessarily think a big name is the answer but a quality club manager with loads of experience would have been a good idea, not another media bunny!

Oh I get it, you are not allowed to express an opinion because of the job you have. What a great idea. If only the likes of Joe could have thought of that, he could have been an iron man. I personally don't agree with him but would defend his right to express a non job related opinion. His job is to try to get a bunch of third rate players to play together. as a team, at a higher level. That and that alone will please the average football fan in Scotland and unite them behind the team. After all it is the team performances that count and not the managers personal political opinions. Still quite a good job in the midden

The guy is having his first break from football in 30 years. He'll come back energised. He'll do a good job. His big weakness is the dross he bought (albeit with little money) in the transfer market. That's not a problem now. His Champions League tactics were always spot on. Just hope he ditches Andy Watson and goes for a good coach as No. 2 (e.g. Joe Jordan, Steve Clarke, Terry BUtcher)

Names are constantly being linked with the Scotland job and unfortunately McLeish's is the latest. He was a mediocre manager at best.
It seems to be that unless you have Old-Firm connections, you will be overlooked for this post. People like Craig Levein, Jimmy Calderwood, Jim Jefferies etc have better credentials than the likes of McLeish.
These are guys who manage teams on a shoestring. You cant go out and buy a player for your national team if you are struggling. You have to make do with players that you have and the guys mentioned above have proved they can do this.
When manager of Motherwell, McLeish let Paul Lambert go(as Slutttee rightly points out.), nuff said!!!

It was either that or Jim Jeffries. Jeff didn't get it because they would have to put sub-titles on the screen when he was on TV and that of course made him no good for Radio. They dont need a coach because when you have only around 15 players to choose from the team picks itself.

He won 1 title by 1 goal, and the other by a point because Celtic were occupied wit Europe and Dunfermline are full of huns.

He bought dud players, second rate foreigners with the intent on weakening the rest of the SPL sides rather than focusing on his own side and strengthening the Rangers side and he paid the ultimate price.

All we wil see with Scotland is another period of players running around like headless chickens and it'll be back to the usual guff.

George Graham come forth, you're country needs you.

I don't think there was any candidate who everyone thought was a good choice so let's just get behind Scotland and pray for a miracle, eh?

yes, he is probably the best of a really bad bunch. The front runners are all of poor standard and second rate managers like mc'leish, mc Allister, Levein, the best coach was tommy Burns and they let him go .
