From what Ive heard the answers run from "healthy in moderation like anything else" to "suicide on the installment plan".

Do you know anything about how actually healthful or unhealthful my favorite main course of beef actually is?

The issue is the source of your fuel calories. The liver can convert protein into sugar to run your body. But this fuel to run your body does not need to come from meat. It can come from rice, potatoes, and other sources. There are different metabolic pathways for different foods.

So you need protein and meat is a great source of protein, but you do not need to eat meat for fuel. When you eat meat for fuel you need to dispose of lots of fats and other stuff that makes the kidneys work harder. Also well done meats contain mutagens that can harm cells.

So it is OK to eat meat to get your protein, but the fuel for your body should come from a carbohydrate like rice of potatoes.

There will always be freaky diets so stick with the general wisdom before you jump on something new.

I have always been told that red meat is bad for you because it has more fat than white meat, it also has larger protein cells, and it takes it longer to break down in your stomach, so more fat and cholesterol is absorbed by your body, being on a diabetic diet, they say the serving size for any meat should be about the size of a pack of playing cards, come on who eats a steak that small??? Just use common sense, incorporate some veggies, and fish, lower fat meats, leaner cuts of beef, and you should be fine

Anything in excess is always bad. Red meat is good for OR beef is good as it contains lots of proteins and all but it shud be in the limit. like have beef 4 times a week at max.

The way 'they' say it, the meat isn't all that bad itself; it's the portion size!
One 'portion' of beef is the size of a deck of cards!!! and weighs 3 oz!!!
And what's that, two bites?

Red meat may not be all that bad, however, you need to know your health condition to consume anything not just red meat.
