applying to transfer her real estate license to work with the broker that I work for. She keeps on losing the forms and coming back for more and standing at my desk and filling them out while asking the SAME questions over and over again. I have other things to do. I am about to go to lunch, that is why I have the time to type this. BUT, I am starting to question whether or not she is capable of even being an agent, she acts so bizarre. Stands here on her cell, talking so loud I can't hear my front desk calls and kind of acts like I am her own personal secretary. I have been polite to her so far, but eventually I am going to have to let her know she is in the way. What the heck am I going to do?

Next time you give her the forms, attach a post it with clairification with regards to the questions she repeatedly asks you. If she screws it up again, tell her you'll leave them with the main broker so they can help her out with each step.

From there, when she acts like you work for her, which you don't, kindly answer any questions, but, if she asks for you to fill something out or file something, etc. just let her know that you can't take the time away from your normal duties to do that kind of thing. Inform her that you're not the office assistant, that you're responsible for duties X, Y and Z..(you fill in the blanks) and can't take anything else on right now.

When she yaps on the cell phone, put a caller on hold and politely ask her to take her call elsewhere. You have to play this all right, you don't want her going behind your back and saying that you're not helpful, but, you don't have to be her beck and call girl either!

I wouldn't bad-mouth her professionalism or question her ability to be a good broker to anyone, she'll sink or swim on her own, probably sink, but, don't give her an excuse to make you look bad!

Its a big deal to transfer ones license and she needs your support. Since you are on a computer, and she isn't, offer to fill out the forms for her on your machine and show her where the forms are on her system. This way, you both gain an ally which is a plus for everyone. As a receptionist, you can be a real helper or you can be an obstruction. Go the extra mile at being the helper, you may get a raise because selling houses or business space is a demanding skill.

Inform the "lady" that you are on the clock and need to have a quiet environment to work. Ask her, don't tell her, if she could take a seat somewhere or step outside to make or receive phone calls. You are still being polite and truthful, but hopefully she will get the hint that she is being a pain in the A$$ and need to stop.

You need to be polite but firm, especially if she comes to work there. She needs to understand that you are not her personal slave but the receptionist for the OFFICE. Perhaps something like, "You know, Gina, its been really great getting to know you these past few days. You may not realize it, but I actually have a ton of work I'm a little behind on, would you mind taking your papers and cell phone to the conference room/your car/etc so that I can get this finished before Bob goes ballistic on me? Thanks so much!" Then turn and get right to work!

Say something to your boss asap and also confront her on why she is acting so unreliable. Don't approach in an aggressive manner, but in a subtle but still stern way. Problems like this need to be dealt with sooner rather than later as they can only get worse. Stand up for yourself!

Try giving her a little time, maybe she is uncomfortable right now and will get the hang of things. Maybe she has some personal issues that are distracting her..try to be patient and loving, and if things don't get better speak with her about it, but try to be understanding. The world is in need of that.

Once she starts working there you can start setting your boundaries. As far as talking too loud on the phone, you have every right to say "excuse me, I'm on the phone, could you lower your voice please?" Or offer her an empty conference room to sit in and do what she needs to do.
